Re: Watch Dogs
Well isn't this trailer more of a mainstream video? What I mean is, I see the other videos targeted toward the more hardcore gamer. And this new video as something that can be played as an advertisement for gamers who may not know anything about the game yet...

It seems more like a television commercial for "generic action game X" more than anything else.xer0s wrote:Well isn't this trailer more of a mainstream video? For me though, it's the overall tone of the vid (due to music and editing) that makes it feel like a commercial for another game. It actually feels more like a Max Payne ad, with the hoarse voice talking about "them goin too far" or some shit, followed by quick cuts of melee smackdowns. I seriously rolled my eyes throughout the entire thing.
lol marketing teams, etc

While I share the sentiment, I can't say I share the feeling of surprise.GONNAFISTYA wrote:It seems more like a television commercial for "generic action game X" more than anything else.

It's been confirmed long ago that games that aren't targeted at a mainstream audience by the developers are still going to be marketed at the mainstream audience just to grab additional cash. You may roll your eyes at that and you may dislike the fact that they lower themselves to "call of duty" levels, but in honesty, if trailers like these are a necessity to keep creativity going in the gaming industry, then they can fling around all the dubstep infused trailers they want, and have millions of ignorant teens buy the game as well. If that's what's needed to keep the dollars flowing so more creativity is possible in games, then that's an "evil" I can be content with.

Re: Watch Dogs
This one's a bit long at nearly 25 minutes, but they go into a shitload of detail that alot of the other reviews simply don't cover.
Watch if you're a nerd.

Were those other vids current generation?
Re: Watch Dogs
GKY, what exactly is your role at Ubi? You doing coding, artwork, level design? Or do you clean the toilets?
Re: Watch Dogs
Level design. Wasn't that mentioned in this thread somewhere?

Re: Watch Dogs
I'm on the LD team that creates the gameplay world and I've had my mitts on nearly everything in the game except the separate story-based mission areas. There's a separate LD team that does missions and another LD team that does multiplayer and those teams work off of the environments I create. I work further with them to help accomodate what they need for their gameplay setups. However, I did design and create one mission that was well received and might make it into the game.
I'm still trying to figure out where to put the Q3W easter egg.

Re: Watch Dogs
the preview still says "ps4 preview with gameplay". this could imply that what we saw before was ps3/360 footage.
