While I do blame Jenny McCarthy for the rollback of critical thinking towards medicine, I blame Oprah Winfrey a bazillion times more.

That stupid, fat, self-obsessed attention whore - with her gazillion mind-deficient followers/fans - has done more damage to real medicine than anyone in history. And it's of no surprise whatsoever that McCarthy has spewed her idiocy on Oprah's show.

I'm actually relieved to hear that Oprah will soon get off television. Although she'll simply be replaced by another idiot...because the "horoscope-loving, man-hating, thrice divorced, narcissistic, bitter morons" who make up the core of her audience cannot go unsatiated for very long before they choose a new champion of their fucked-up world view.

I wasn't vaccinated as a young child as a result of my mother holding some of these beliefs; I had measles, mumps, whooping cough and chickenpox, although thank (insert beardy man in the sky here) at least I got tetanus jabs. What makes this even wierder is that my father is also a doctor.

And the "too many too soon argument" has no merit, either. Kids used to get 7 vax w/ +3000 antigens in them. Now they get 14 w/ 150.

I never got vaccinated either and I've also never really been ill. I caught a flu once after partying all night long then walking home in a really cold winter night with no jacket but that's it. Never had those childhood diseases like chickenpox even though both my brothers did and they were both vaccinated, one is autisitc...

Unless you're younger than twenty, I doubt you would have gotten the vaccine anyway. IIRC, varicella vaccine is relatively new. I didn't get it either, but that's because it didn't exist.

Every year at flu season time, this issue comes up. There's no end to it. This year, public radio had vaccine specialists on about every other week. It didn't matter how many times they said, "There is NO connection between vaccines and autism," someone would call in with "zomg! how can u tell ppl to get vaccines when it maeks babbys retarded?!?!?!"
