Have now completed this. Gobsmacked. Utterly. Great ending. And by far, away and then some the most entertaining character performances i've ever witnessed in any game, even without any actual characters ever being on screen. I enjoyed EDI in ME2, but how they got so much emotion and personality out of a metal ball with a blue light in this was pretty astonishing. All the animation in fact was excellent, from malfunctioning panels twitching and blindly banging against walls, to full blown chamber transformations and destruction.

The corset-tight pacing did lose a button or two and sag towards the end of the 2nd act, notably when stuck in a vast cavernous area trying to pick out the solitary slab of portalable panel that'll let you get to the next massive room. Not quite a chunk of gristle mid-meal but it did feel having your fork replaced with a stick for a bit when solving puzzles became ponderous scanning of distant walls, with Valve's usual talent for subtle guidance disconcertingly absent. But it picks back up and the dessert certainly arrives come act 3.

Between Simmons, Merchant and Mclain and some splendid writing i think it's safe to say this is one of the funniest games i've ever played. I feel a bit of a bastard for only paying a tenner :owned:

Valve's officially announced the second dollop of Portal 2 DLC (via Joystiq), and it includes "an easy-to-use in-game map editor that will let users design, build and share their own single-player and co-op test chambers with the community." It's coming out early next year.

The co-op DLC missions were a serious headfuck.

Trailer for some new Portal 2 stuff for PC and Mac:

Looks like it's some kind of prefab based Portal 2 level designer. I guess I'll have to go and buy Portal 2 for PC now...

I simply lack the goddamn patience for puzzling to be honest, i just get annoyed. When i finally do solve one i don't experience a sense of accomplishment but a sense of irritation towards the game for impeding my advance. I'll get games with puzzling because they get good reviews, then i don't play them because i can't stand puzzling

It's my game-handicap :tear:

I often feel the same, especially with odd (jump) puzzles in action games. Portal never annoyed me though. Especially Portal 2's coop mode is awesome.

I just loved when me and my bro were playing it and in one of the rooms we were looking for a solution, couldn't find one and had been intentionally ignoring the obvious solution because we both deemed it to be impossible. Then we tried it and OMG! It worked! I felt really good about that.

I first need to get Portal 2 for the PC. But I see it's only €20 on Steam so I may just go ahead and grab it there.
