Blame publishers, not developers.EtUL wrote:i almost bought a game on the PSN then decided to get it hard copy for this reason. fuck u developers

You think Steam would just keep an option to gift your game to another account ?, dont think itd be something theyd market seeing as theyre being forced to do it ?, cant see there being a 2nd hand market place like ?Memphis wrote:Should this or similar rulings force the likes of Steam to offer resales however, it could seriously bugger up getting stuff for 75% off regularly. Then again, if one could flog off the hundreds of unplayed or never to be again played games, one may not have to be so picky with purchases in the first place. Hmmm.
Save a reselling structure, it could also force digital retail to double down in cementing itself as licensing or rental, probably with some sort of ass-backwards pseudo subscription service.... /shudder
Fingaz is crossed this does actually help and not just make Evilcorp publishers stubbornly try to fuck us in the next available hole.
Think youre right though, if the Steam sales stop because of resale value thatd be a pretty big step backwards, but at the same time we should be able to do what we want with the shit weve purchased, not sure if tasting sweet freedom, or being held to ransom ?
Steam polly make so much from the Sales theyd be silly to give it up anyway though.... what about iTunes ?

Heh...I was gonna post this...then it already was. Oh did I say fuck u...? fuck u...
Anyways...this is totally awesome news.
Also...since I haven't really read the EULA...if Steam tracks your usage in hours played, etc shouldn't this make it easier for people to sell/trade games they've bought but never played? Hell...if I sell a game on Steam, I'd be happy with a simple credit towards new Steam games instead of actually bothering to cash a cheque.

Re: EU rules consumers able to resell downloaded games
Great! Can we do the same with movie tickets ? So, when I m dome watching I can give it to someone else on my way out. Hopefully the movie is still as good as it was 2 hours ago.

eventually with the legal system it seems like we could just move to a licensing system with all digital content.

Ballsakali seems to think that you can harvest the photons that entered your eye during the movie viewing and sell them to someone else.
Re: EU rules consumers able to resell downloaded games
I'm just using it as an example to express my reservations on this decision.
It's one thing reselling something that can for all intent and purpose be described as new /used... like a car, and another when it comes to a product that is basically exactly as good as new, even after it has been owned by 50 diff. people.
It's like buying a 4 year old used car but it somehow has retained every aspect of a new car. no mileage, interior still super clean, no dents no scratches, brand new tires etc. But you get to have it for a fraction of the price than the one douche who decided to pay full price for it.
To me, reselling a game is more closely resembling a situation where you can resell a ticket stub at the movies. You're both getting EXACTLY the same experience, with the only difference: one paying full price compared to the one who bought it used.

maybe you could sell your memory of seeing a movie to recall?GONNAFISTYA wrote:Ballsakali seems to think that you can harvest the photons that entered your eye during the movie viewing and sell them to someone else.

It's Rekall.
Tsakali, the old good-as-new car is outdated by the latest car technological developments.
