Hi

I am having really strange problem with radiant 1.6.4, each time I try to even save new preferences or new map.

Here http://imgur.com/0Sxccfp,FHl9bQt#0 is the error message when I try to change preferences.

Here http://imgur.com/0Sxccfp,FHl9bQt#1 is the error message when I try to save a map.

Does anyone know what may be the problem? I have tried fresh install of Q3 and fresh install of radiant but nothing changed :(

Thanks

tr3v, I have the same issue. I can't open ANY map, even those that came with Radiant, I can't save preferences, when I do, it won't apply. There must be something wrong in codes. Obs have told me it can be caused by Windows settings, but tried to change permissions, tried to run Radiant as administrator, but nothing happened. One solution can be wait for next update which should repair this issue, or use older version.

Most programs (including GtkRadiant) do not have write permissions enabled to the Program Files folder as it is restricted by the OS. Have you tried installing the program to somewhere else instead of C:\Program Files\GtkRadiant?

Try installing to C:\GtkRadiant

Obs, I did that and it doesn't work for me. Also I try to change file format to unix, I read somewhere it helps for a lot of applications. Also, it was much better when it was in installer instead of just zip file. Anyway before it will get solved, I will use Radiant 1.5 to edit maps...

Thanks for reply, yes it's installed to separate folder in "C:\Users\Rob\Desktop\Games\GtkRadiant-1.6.4-20131213" but still has the same problem.

I've also tried 1.4 and this gives me a completely different error message - before radiant even opens it says "This is a version 2 project file. This build only supports <=1 project files. Please choose another project file or upgrade your version of radiant.".

Actually I've just tried version 1.5 and this seems to be working fine, no problems at all. Maybe I'll just use this until next update. Thanks for help though.

EDIT: Even Radiant 1.5 is now having a problem. I have no textures in radiant, so I change quake 3 engine path from "C:/Program Files/Quake III Arena/", to "C:\Users\PC\Desktop\Games\Quake III Arena" (actual game path), then whenever I try to make a brush I get repeat error message: http://imgur.com/soqYl57

OK, so it seems that the main problem cause of all this is "XML Too many open files"... And I have managed to fix this problem by simply deleting a large number of map files (.pk3) in my baseq3 folder. I just took a huge selection of maps (752 .pk3 files), copied them to a separate folder and then deleted them from baseq3. Now my GTK Radiant 1.6.4 works fine, prefs save and maps save and I have (some) textures.

So now I have one other question: why does the number of pk3 files in baseq3 affect radiant's ability to save prefs or maps?
Also... As the problem is that there is "Too many open files", this must mean something is making a limit of how many files can be open. Does anyone know what does this, and if there is a way to increase the limit?
