My mouse (Razer Death Adder) is responding poorly in-game and in general. I bought it about a year ago and for the last year or so I have been using a black, matte, mouse pad which is really more of a dinner place mat. It is larger than a mouse pad and that helps my game. It worked fine until recently. I have cleaned the optics on the mouse but no change. The pointer just sticks as I move the mouse. Rocket jumping in QL has become very difficult even with low ping (18).

Any thoughts?

I shiver when I think of what SoM calls his hand held pointing device.
I am guessing Microhard

I think what has happened as I look at the mouse pad (aka place mat) is the moose feet have removed any texture from the surface giving it a gloss. It is a USB mouse. So i'll first replace the pad and see wtf happens. Optic moose don't need a particular surface to work but will not work on a glossy surface.

why are you using a pad in the first place ? those were 90's

get rid of it and use it plainly on your desk.

I used to do this until i got worn out spots on my desk/keyboard tray. I went back to a pad.

I use a massive self healing cutting mat. I use it for normal stuff anyway, so it doubles well as a mouse pad.

Moose?

I use a rather expensive wood desk so I must use the pad.

Well - the answer is-------------I bought a new apd and that fixed it. The mouse pads wore the old pad to a gloss and optics can't track on a glossy surface.

Thanks all.
