Ever since the public opening of TurkeyFiles (available to everyone) the bandwidth has started to get saturated during prime-time hours. This will probably calm down as more people get files for servers (ex: If bob gets a map for one server, he won't need to get it for ten other servers that use the same map). In the meantime it may be a bit slower than usual. I am working with the datacenter to increase the bandwidth to a 100mbit exclusive (non burst) connection. It will be around $1000.00 more a month for that machine, but it's worth it for the gaming community. :icon31:

Sorry for not helping out with the site anymore foo. I don't play or even have the game installed, nor do I plan to since it dosen't interest me. Don't think it would be a good choice having someone maintain uploads there that really shows no interest for it.

Relax, I've gone a similar path too. Plus I'm jobhunting and most of my time on the PC is spent at the moment learning new tools.

is it posible to a section there for the maps.

Not really. The system has to mirror the directory structure of a standard Q4 installation or AutoDL doesn't function.

And to build on alternative ways of viewing the files with extra data would require reverting to a different system which we moved away from due to complexity vs ease of use issues.

All maps should be placed into the \Q4Base\ directory tree.

All maps, unless mod specific, should go into q4base. :icon31:

its just hard to find a place to download the maps that are used in tournies.

There's only a handful of them currently being used in pro tourney play.. It can't be that freaking hard.

http://q4files.escapedturkey.net/quake4/pk4s/ has pretty much every halfway decent map currently in existence, so far as I know..

Is there a good way to remove maps from http://q4files.escapedturkey.net/quake4/pk4s/q4base?

I have a few betas of my last map that should be removed, now that the final is out..

I was, but I'm otherwise engaged from hereon out (currently jobhunting and working on career-oriented projects) so I'm not working on the site anymore.
