hey was just wondering

i got an nvidia fx 5500

and an AMD xp 1.8 ghz .. 1gb ram

i tweaked the crap outta my CFG so far and am still getting only 25-30 fps..

was just looking for opinions on a mobo/chip upgrade

i heard alotta people talking about amd 3.1 GHz with same/equal video card as i have and pulling pretty good FPS..

u think it's worth it to upgrade to a 3.0 ghz or so.. or should i just wait untill the patch the shit outta this game?

Yes, your processor is limiting you. You'd probably get decent framerates with that card (at low res and low detail) if you got a A64 3000+ or better.

The FX5500 (and FX5600 or any GF4) just doesn't cut it. You must have a really low detail cfg because i'm surprised you get 25-30 fps with that card. Upgrading cpu+mobo will stabilize the FPS (which is what you want) but it will not boost it much with an FX5500. I think you need at least something that's faster than the fastest GF4. Your vidcard is limiting you much more than your cpu is. Get a GF 6600 (GT) or Radeon X700 or something like that.

Q4 is more CPU-intensive than GPU-intensive. I'd upgrade to an Athlon64.
You'll still need to upgrade the vid card eventually, but I think the CPU would be the best place to start, to get the most bang for your buck.

The 6600GT is a good, cheap card to get if you have the funds. At just above $150 bucks, it's well worth it if you can't afford better at the moment.
