It's weird, for a "pro" mod.. But I get a noticeable bit worse performance in Q4Max than I do in Q4base, since PR 1.3.

yeah I got that also.

I turned off vertex lighting in Q4MAX and just used r_forceambient instead and that seemed to clear it up

1.3 kinda broke vertex lighting - you'll find that sometimes it turns lights back on again. This is why the menus were updated to set use r_forceAmbient instead of r_vertexlight. If you're using r_forceAmbient 0, you've probably got realtime lighting on, even if you have r_vertexlight 1.

(The q4max vertex lighting takes effect immediately, and turns the lights off. However r_forceambient seems to be like the XBM r_ambientlightonly and activates after a short period of time, and so if its set to 0 will actually turn lights back on again!)
