I've created an ioquake3 server. It's a dedicated server hosted in a datacenter in Montreal, east coast of north america. It's running cpma and you can connect on it with Quake 3 or ioquake3. If you use ioquake3 the http download is enabled for the mod and the maps. Meaning that cpma and any custom maps you don't have in your ioquake3 will be downloaded automatically through the http protocol, very fast! - make sure that you have cl_allowdownload 1 for that to happen.

I want to give priority to custom maps being loaded on the server, so here's the list updated :

Quote:
Achromatic - q3gwdm1.pk3
Sanctum - Q3shw27
powahaus redux - map_cpm18r.pk3
Angkor the flag - dk_ng2_ctf.pk3
The Simpsons Map - simpsons.pk3
Overgrowth - desctf1.pk3
Derwyll's Castle 2 - nor3ctf1.pk3
Fluorescent - ct3ctf2.pk3
Tactical Assault (Release Candidate 1) - pasctf4_rc1.pk3
Tactical Assault (Final) - pasctf4_final.pk3
Shibam v1.1 - shibam.pk3
Shibam v1.3 - shibam_1.3.pk3
Octagonal Overdose - map-13octo.pk3
Divided We Fall - map-kellfall.pk3, map-kellfall_ta.pk3, map-kelltall.pk3, bot-pyre.pk3
God Of Emptiness - hodq3dm1.pk3
Arctica - storm3tourney9.pk3

More details for the server can be found here also :

Server address : 64.15.78.74:27961

Okay okay, I removed the bot from the server, he was too strong... :paranoid:

Previous version of Tactical Assault and Shibam were removed also.

Also a DNS was created for the server, you can use quake3.dghost.com:27961 for connecting. Should resolve to : 64.15.78.74

The http autodownload with ioquake3 is awesome!

Let me know if you got any problem with the server.

Wrong side of the world for me, but great effort nonetheless

Thx, we often say that the world is a small place, but when it comes to physical distance it can get pretty big... What's your ping time with the server if that question is not indiscreet?

Code:
Pinging 64.15.78.74 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 64.15.78.74: bytes=32 time=169ms TTL=54
Reply from 64.15.78.74: bytes=32 time=188ms TTL=54
Reply from 64.15.78.74: bytes=32 time=187ms TTL=54
Reply from 64.15.78.74: bytes=32 time=222ms TTL=54

Ping statistics for 64.15.78.74:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 169ms, Maximum = 222ms, Average = 191ms

191ms average on a plain ping. I guess it's not too bad considering you're in Canada and I'm in the Netherlands (Europe) but it's not exactly preferable for playing Quake 3 :)

For Quake 3, really not... I am lucky sometimes I got only 100 ms with Quake 3 servers located in the UK. Never tried a NL server tough.

Make a post in LEM as well, I think some people might want to play some custom maps.

I get a 17ms average ping (Toronto). :)

In the Level, Editing & Modeling section? There's a lot of user in there that don't read the other sections of this forum? Let me know what you think of the server if you ever try it. Or if there is any issue also about it.

Definitely a great idea to help get custom maps played more.

We should set up schedules or something so we can all meet for some quick FFA`s, etc. That way we can get a lot of people together at one time for larger maps or CTF maps. Maybe every two weeks or something, not sure.

What's the irc server and the room name?

I am also currently working on a new detailed list of the map rotation on the server, will post it later with instruction for the server on how to use it.

So here's an updated list of what's on the server. Before any comments, yes I know there is not too much maps for DM, TeamDM. I will wait for your recommendation before adding more dm maps, because, well, I don't like having bad map on it.

The server is running cpma, you can connect to it and call vote, for changing map, in the console type "callvote map bsp_name_here" The map rotation is by default the CTF mode and of course you can change the mode, again in the console type : "callvote mode 1v1/2v2/ffa/ctf/team" Changing a map will not change the current game mode.

Suggestions are welcomed and let me know if you have any problem connecting to it.

download the maplist in a spreadsheet
