Max Payne 3
Max Payne 3
Look at those photos taken from the new issue of Game Informer. Go on, do it.
Then cry.
RIP Max Payne.

Re: Max Payne 3
Why am I crying? Film noir could be interesting in Brazil.
On the other hand, I'm not optimistic about many sequels and don't hold high hopes for this one.

Re: Max Payne 3
he's not a fatty by far, and well, yes he is bald. This is the third installment what's wrong with a little aging? Besides the guy had a shitty life...that can have its effect on you after a while.

Re: Max Payne 3
You're kidding, right? That looks freakin sweet.
Classic 'boohoo it doesn't look exactly like I think it should' syndrome. I'll reserve judgement on the game for the demo, but until then I'm looking forward to it.

Could be quality
Hope they have the same dude voicing it. I wonder how awesome the engine will be as I remember Max Payne was quality when it came out!

Re: Max Payne 3
replaying max payne 1 now. still a great game.
as for max payne 3, it isn't developed by remedy, it isn't written by sam lake (who incidentally was also the model for max payne 1's character.. you know, the one with the constipated look) and the guy who voiced max payne isn't involved.
now we see it is set in brazil, in daytime, with a sam fisher lookalike. not very noir is it?
i'm sure the gameplay itself is decent, but it just doesn't look or feel like max payne to me... so far.

No kidding. To be honest, I think I would pass on it if it looked like the first two.vesp wrote:You're kidding, right? That looks freakin sweet.

Re: Max Payne 3
Max Payne is all about atmosphere. If they can't recreate that then it's just not Max Payne. That's not to say it won't be a good game, but it's not as Max Payne used to be.
Re: Max Payne 3
what eraser said
this has nothing to do with boohoo change
, its about taking a character who's story was already at an end and forcing an extended lifespan by the use of random locales.
in conclusion, fu

Re: Max Payne 3
So, in conclusion, we'll see when a demo comes out how they've managed to keep/change/interpret the atmosphere, story and gameplay to create a good or otherwise game.
On a lighter note, who would have preferred this: trailer

Re: Max Payne 3
still, it looks a lot like SplinterCell Conviction before it was redesigned.
so maybe it IS john mcclane dealio, like tears from the sun <> die hard 4..

Re: Max Payne 3
They're just slapping the brand name onto a completely different game. Probably sound business-wise, but not very honest.
Re: Max Payne 3
So this is what they've done to the game:

Shooting people in AC Milan shirts

Re: Max Payne 3
George Broussard (original max payne producer)'s reaction
While I like R* and they always make good games, the character direction is odd at best. No NY, no nighttime, no trench coat. I wonder if they are also moving away from the noire style writing and storytelling and the graphic novel screens.
While the shots look great, you cannot identify Max Payne from these shots at all.
This is the stuff I expect to see after 5-6 games when a series is in need of a reboot, not two games that sold some 7+ million units. I await the final game, but so far it just looks like someone wanted to do things different for the sake of doing so.
Re: Max Payne 3
Yeah he was producer on Max Payne 1. Dunno if he was involved with 2.
edit:
According to IMDB he was a tester on Max Payne 2. Odd.

Re: Max Payne 3
While I agree with him, it is important to remember that George Broussard is also responsible for DNF and as such, should be ignored completely.

Re: Max Payne 3
Do you think it's better if it looks like everything else these days, has a cover system, is being developed first and foremost for consoles and becomes a shitty PC port later?vesp wrote:You're kidding, right? That looks freakin sweet.

And the fuck's he doing in a development country anyway, is he on cocaine or something?

way to much colour, im with the negative side of this argument...
Re: Max Payne 3
Kinda sucks. Max Payne is an icon that has a certain look. Why fuck with that?
You wouldn't make a spiderman game where he looked totally different, or a hulk game where he's purple instead of green, so wtf?
Also, I recently played through MP2 (2003!) again, and the graphics still hold up.
