Yes it is. It continually tries to claim the crown as being the definitive console shooter, but IMO it was 4 years late for that. GoldenEye 007, the James Bond game on the N64 takes that prize. Other than that, Halo 1 was incredibly boring and Halo 3 was an enjoyable but ultimately so-so shooter. I admit I haven't played Halo 2 or Reach though.

Not really. The palette was weak and the colors were washed out. The environments were uninspired, plain, and void of detail. Something in there is a bit redundant, but you get my point.

The only thing I liked from the first were the little monkey aliens that dropped needler guns.

You guys are ridiculous.

The first halo game was great. It was fucking awesome and sold a shit ton proving it. It's even gotten a re-relase updated because it was that good. I loved it, played the shit out of it. What made it good was the gameplay and level design.

Halo 2 was ok. People really dug the multiplayer on it but the single player was kinda rehashed mix of the first game. But it's claim to fame that time was a great MP Halo experience which it did well.

Halo 3 was shit, SP was overrated and MP was too. It's the one Halo title I owned because I was a huge fan of the first 2 and this one didn't hold me. ODST is just more halo 3 so it doesn't really count. Saying it's shit is a bit harsh though, as a game on it's own it was alright.

Halo Reach was fucking amazing. They did everything in Halo Reach that they SHOULD have done in Halo 3. If you play any game in the Halo series, Halo 1 and Halo Reach are titles all gamers should try. I finished Halo Reach solo on Legendary and I enjoyed every minute and the multiplayer was an excellent arcade style shooter which if you hang here you should like.

Halo Reach set a really high bar for Halo 4 so they've got their work cut out for them.

Oh come on Trans, that's not true. Halo has such a huge player following. And those players not only buy the game, but they play it years after its release. The PR might be able to sell it, but the gameplay keeps the players playing. Don't get me wrong, it's not for everyone. But a game like that can't be huge without being enjoyable for so many people...

I play some of the halo series. The ones I find are good, which Reach is a really amazing game.

I also play a lot of Shadowrun, gonna call me a fanboy for playing that too? The gameplay is fucking spot on, that's what I look for in games and that's the same reason I played Q3.

I'm not some schlob who can't play either, in all the games I play I'm usually fairly competitive and I've been playing for 30 years I know a good game from a bad game. You just sound like all the dipshits who hate on a game because it's made by x and I play y. Like all the hate UT got from Quake players and vice versa. Fucking hipsters.

Did I ever say I didn't like Halo because Microsoft was behind it? No. I don't like it because it's a fucking bland game with nothing to offer the gaming community other than a waste of time. The Gears series is published by MS and those games aren't half bad. I played through the first GoW I don't know how many times because it was great for some mindless enjoyment. And Horde mode was a blast online. I'm in the Modern Warfare camp over Battlefield, but I don't hate on BF. It's just not my type of shooter.

It couldn't possibly be that there are millions of folks who enjoy different type of games than you do, could it? Give it a bloody rest. The Halo series is by no mean "the best evaaar" but it was and remains a decent series with a huge fanbase and a dedicated multiplayer following. Not every game has to reinvent the industry and push boundaries.

I can't argue with that. i can play games like Dues Ex- for hours... any type of future based scifi with eye filling contemporary level design and satisfying enough gameplay is "good stuff" in my book. Speaking of which, Syndicate had some beautiful level design, satisfying gameplay and excellent AI . Matter of fact, it blew Dues Ex out of the water on those three aspects. The story wasn't anywhere as good, but the gameplay was fun enough for me not to really care.

I'm sure there are, and they're all fucking retards. :) And you're right, not every game has to be a diamond in the rough, but those are the kind of games I'm typically drawn toward.

Because, each major title that comes out has to bring us one step closer to a Holodeck-like experience. Otherwise, what's the point? How else am I going to be able to geniunely experience World War II from the eyes of Eva Braun?
