Tsunami watch

Post by 4days »

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-17675399
An earthquake with an magnitude of 8.7 has struck under the sea off Indonesia's northern Aceh province.

The quake triggered a tsunami warning across the Indian Ocean region.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) said it was not yet known whether a tsunami had been generated, but advised authorities to "take appropriate action".
Hope we don't have any posters in this neck of the woods atm

because the thai government are morons, they kicked out foreign voulenteers because they didnt have a workvisa.. voulenteerwork is still work and doing so is 'stealing jobs'.
never mind that the thai werent able or were very concerned with fixing their shit. :dork:

Indeed. I'm surprised there wasn't a massive tsunami or other damage...

It isn't just about Richter magnitude.
Location and depth equally factor in.

"Factor in" as in: how people are affected.
While the *type* of earthquake indeed defines the magnitude on Richter scale, who gives a shit? What matters are the consequences on the mainland.
And those consequences aren't dependent on type, but on location and depth.
Thanks for playing, though.

lol ur dumb...

it depends how much water is displaced which is dependant on the type of quake. if the land shifts up it will displace water. if the quake slides along faults or breaks downward it won't displace much water. ur a colossal dipshit...

We can all see how much you don't care.

Does the weapons-grade stupidity of your own post escape you? Foolish question, I'm sure, but nonetheless...

I think we should change this from "opinion" to "fact", because really it's a fact.
