The Pirate Bay must be blocked by UK ISPs, court rules

Post by DRuM »

'Virgin Media told the BBC it will now comply with the request, but warned such measures are, in the long term, only part of the solution.'

"As a responsible ISP, Virgin Media complies with court orders addressed to the company but strongly believes that changing consumer behaviour to tackle copyright infringement also needs compelling legal alternatives, such as our agreement with Spotify, to give consumers access to great content at the right price."

Two ISPs were ordered to block it over here too. A new mirror popped up not a day later.

I wonder if the people fighting for it know it will be ineffective and it's just a step in their plan.

Or if they're just incompetent.

Yes. The dutchee riaa still made a case tho, not about rights but about theft. or something. And two isps complied, not sure if that was court ordered tbh.

It was court ordered for Ziggo and XS4ALL and now BREIN is going after other ISP's as well. BREIN is well and truly delusional though. They did some nasty legal trick to force the Dutch pirateparty to take down their reverse proxy to the pirate bay. They also tried to force them to take down a general reverse proxy but they fought back and the judge said the pirate party can leave it up.
Also, research has indicated that usage of TPB by Ziggo/XS4ALL customers hasn't decreased since the blockage.

Oh btw, just go to google translate and tell it to translate TPB. Tada. There it is. Probably without stylesheets or images (if your ISP blocks TPB) but you don't need those anyway.

Just a list of web proxies that have absolutely nothing to do with The Pirate Bay at all.
