quake 4 doesnt run :(

hey hi everybody maybe someone can help me

i have already bought my specuial edition of quake 4 ^^ i have installed it and i have all teh updates of directx 9.0c(i have instelled it at the same time as the game) ande the ati catalist 5.10.
the main porblem is that i execute the cirect acces and the screen turno on black and 2-4 secoinds after, the desktop appear on the screen again,.
my pc is a p4 3.2 ghz prescott on a msi 915 p combo, with a x800 pro and 1024 ddr 400 dual clannel kingston
if u need more info ask me please.
i want to play tha jewel!!

Assuming you have a supported operating system there are two possible options:

Install Catalyst 5.9 OR 5.5 OR the latest BETA, avoid others as they can cause problems with Quake4 for some ATi users.

Install a new version of OpenAL ( http://www.openal.org ) for your soundcard.

ok i have installed open al and now it runs
can u tell me what do open al?
is my sound car sound blaster audogy 2 not ompatible ith the game?=

Glad to hear it's working. OpenAL is used by Quake4 if your system has it installed, Creative ship an early / buggy driver with their cards so it requires an update.
