Painkiller (stei_05_21)

This classic gothic theme from Elmar Steinböck features 3 tiers and is fairly large. The lighting, together with the high level of detail, really work to create a terrific atmosphere. If you're a fan of the original q3dm7, grab "Painkiller".

Intestinal Distress (open_sore)

As this map's name suggests, "Intestinal Distress" makes you feel like you're wandering around someone's insides. This small skin/organic themed DM is chalk full of narrow passageways and is ideal for up to 6 people. A great effort from EASE.

Spaced Out (skye3ctf1)

This nice looking CTF floater from Skye features a very neat, symmetrical look. Here you'll find an interesting mix of Q3 base and custom textures that produce a highly detailed map best played on high-end systems.

Quake 3 Arena: Dreamcast™ Map-pack
(dcmappack)

This 49.5 MB download contains 24 maps, including a nice mix of DM and CTF. Although this map-pack was designed to allow PC, Mac, or Linux clients to play against Dreamcast users online, the collection certainly stands on its own. This is a large download, but the maps are certainly high quality and well worth checking out.

simplicity (geit3dm4)

This map by Geit was an entry in nunuks geometry challenge. "simplicity" is all about atmosphere. Although some would say that the map lacks punch, the atmosphere and high quality gameplay make this one well worth grabbing.

t4tourney1 (t4tourney1)

The latest effort from Rebel Assault emphasizes gameplay over all else. This 3-level FFA features lots of open space, along with a series of strategically placed teleporters, along with excellent weapon placement. Recommended with 2-4 players.

Platform6 (platform6)

There are two reasons why I've chosen to feature this first effort by Cyben. Firstly, I've always enjoyed seeing the spins people put on the basic floater and secondly, this map is very well done. Although the action can slow down considerably in the open areas, this is a fun map. Detailing includes teleporter bathroom stalls. Very clean and well laid out.

TeamTemple (teamtemple)

August's first map is a tidy little CTF from BerneyBoy. "TeamTemple" is available in two flavors - Q3 and TA. The TA version is available from the author's site. This mid sized map has a real classic feel about it, although BerneyBoy has provided some modified shaders (watch out for the slime!). The recommended payload is between 6-16 players. Bot support's good, too.
