Dracula (dracula)

A medium sized DM from Priv, "Dracula" offers a completely new look with lots of detailing. This map offers an interesting combination of elements that come together to produce an entertaining experience. This one's a 7.5 MB download, but worth it.

Author's Note: The author wishes to acknowledge the following for their help in creating "Dracula":

    Kao Phat Chance
    (pjw3quickie2)

"pjw" posted this one on one of Q3W's forums. A "quickie" map that was created from start to finish in one sitting, "Kao Phat Chance" is an awesome tourney/FFA floater. It offers fast, multi-tiered action set in a truly unique environment, complimented by a spectacular skybox.

    Halls of Death v2
    (casdm3v2)

"Castle" has reworked a map he released some time ago. The map is now available in three flavors (FFA, CTF, TA). The FFA version posted here provides excellent one-on-one action along with nice detailing, excellent architecture and strong playability.

    A New Beginning
    (RemorselessDM1)

Here's the first Q3 release from ReMoRsELeSs, a well known UT mapper. This map is designed to look and feel like a steel industrial complex. The layout consists of two floors with a split upper ring that creates the feel of a third layer. Lots of open space with tight, short corridors makes this map fun to play.

    unavi (unavi)

Here's the newest release from Rebel Assault. This DM/ffa was completed in only 20 hours for a mapping competition held recently at unavi.net. A fairly large map, "unavi" offers clean lines and
excellent playability. You'll want to grab this one.

    Sudden Death (suddendeath)

I'm not usually a big fan of space-themes, but I found this fun little map posted on ..::LvL. "Sudden Death" is MegaMan's first Quake3 map. This space map offers a simple, yet fun layout with excellent r_speeds and effective lighting. I enjoyed this one.

Author's Note: This map is in beta status.

Two versions of this unique looking floater by 79DieselRabbit are available. The 5.6 MB non-music version and a 20 MB version with music. The full version with music is available from the author's site. This DM/tourney features tons of new graphics and textures and is certainly one of the most interesting maps I've seen in a while. Check it out!

    Flea Fights
    (map-charon3dm8)

Charon drew inspiration for this 1 MB map from a mapping contest that was held at Nunuk's Fragopolis. Utilizing only 4 different textures and taking only 17 hours to build, "Flea Fights" is a fun 2-4 player tourney style map.

    Zero Signal (q3finkodm6)

    q3_via_arena (via_arena)

This map, designed by Borg, is a heavily renovated version of the original via_arena, the benchmarking map released a while ago. Designed for playability, "Via Arena" suits 4 - 12 player DM games and anything from 2 Vs 2 to 4 Vs 4 Team DM. This map features a lot of open spaces and design complexity, so a high-end system is still recommended. Needless to say, the detailing and architecture in this one are first-rate.

    Offworld (alkdm12)

"Offworld", by [Kona], is a small DM. Created using the HH3's Clockwork Droid textures, this map offers Kona's trademark look and attention to detail. The architecture is simple, yet effective with a central court surrounded by twisting multi-tiered hallways for lots of action. If it's from [Kona], it's worth grabbing.

    Fusing Plasma (fusiondm03)

"Fusing Plasma", the fourth release from Fusion, features 3 new skinned bots and a new soundtrack. This may explain the 5.5 MB download. The map is a moon base set into the terrain which makes for a simple yet effective architecture. Definitely worth a look.

    catch22 (fil3dm2)

Filter113 recommends that this map be played in tourney mode. Featuring a well architectured main chamber surrounded by hallways, "Catch22" is a smallish DM that features a number of custom textures. This is only a 1 MB download and well worth checking out.

Mr. LyCon's latest release utilizes 6000 brushes to produce an atmosphere that's truly unique and alot of fun to play. Lots of vertical action here, too. This isn't a small download at almost 7 MB's, but if you're looking for something different, check this one out.

    MKBASE - Feel The Base
    (mkbase)

"MKBASE", the first CTF released by "Killer", is a medium sized map decked out using the IKBASEQ3 texture set. This map features a symmetrical layout with two bases overlooking a central courtyard. Yet another great work from the author of "Industrial Experience".

    Borg (borgdm1)

Here's another small DM from Bill Ferman. Like "Forbidden Palace", "Borg" was specifically designed to be small and fast with an emphasis on balancing eye candy with playability. Bill's been successful on both counts with this map.

    Platypus (platypus)

nunuk designed this small 5 texture map to help generate interest in
Q3 Geometry Challenge, a mapping contest he's been holding. The map consists primarly of a single room and is
    architecturally fascinating.

    Forbidden Palace (billdm17)

Bill Ferman recently posted this fast little DM. Although this map features lots of atmosphere and vertical action, the framerate is excellent throughout. This map will definitely be appreciated by those who don't own 1 GHZ PIII's.
