Getting Started with Quake III Arena Level Editing - Essential Files: Uninstall Radiant (should you still have an old version installed)
Get GtkRadiant editor
Current stable release: -> Get GtkRadiantSetup-1.4.0-Q3RTCWET.exe (Win32) and install Visit qeradiant.com for more information.
Get Q3Map2 compiler
Current stable release: -> Get q3map_2.5.12_win32_x86 and install -> If you're feeling daring, you can try the latest development build (possibly nonfunctional - requires installation of latest stable release): Development Build Win32 x86 Visit shaderlab.com for more information.
Get Q3Map2Toolz front-end
Current stable release: -> Get Q3Map2Toolz 0.06.04 and install From planetquake.com
Scan the rest of this thread for information and content to learn from and use.
Then Start Mapping for Quake III Arena!

Alpha Channel Is Missing from Targa File Saved from Photoshop 7.0Targa plug-in

apparently, the q3map2 above is out of date. theres a newer release.. Current stable version is 2.5.15 (2004-07-08)

As skin pointed out, the editing q&a's don't go in this thread.I have deleted those 2 posts to help clean up this thread a little. I plan on doing a thread clean-up this week so if anybody finds any other bad/dead links, please post so I know which to fix/remove.

May I suggest making an alteration to the layout of the of the repeating data in the textures section, for example, where Kat has like 12 rows of textures could be simplified to this:Kat's rocks @ quake3bits Kat's kt_rock_II Kat's kt_rock3_a : 3_b : 3_c Kat's tex-flat rock pak1 : pak2a : pka2b : pak3 Kat's tex-rough rock pak1 : pak2 : pak3 [No Clan Needed][This message has been edited by skinNCNmaster : 08-17-2004.]
