[edit]note: if you have Q3m2e or q3mine, please remove it and then rename the file msstdfmt.dll in your windows \system folder (only if you have problems running the programm) i have made some adjustments to the installer that made more sense then the earlier versions.[/edit]

posted 07-13-2002 04:24 AMFYI we would like to have a new compiler frontend in GtkRadiant at some point. Riant has taken a few steps towards this, and most of the design work is done. We are more or less left with the actual implementation now.
I'm cool if you guys want to write your own seperate/independant tools, but I'd like to remind you that GtkRadiant is always looking for new develoers and contributors..
Explorer crashed in startup after installing your prog and rebooting... it even crashed after removing your tools prog dir (not the registry settings)
Can you release a version without the installer, just the .exe and needed files/dirs? I like the idea of having a q3map2 frontend very much, so please release a barebone version . If it crashes again you'll hear from me...
1) You could elaborate a bit more and tell exactly what happened, what OS you use and stuff like that, because this has not happened with any version up till now. So please give me details so i can correct if needed. ( call me cynical, but i rather think it is/was your windows install then the program)
2) i cannot give you just an exe because the programm is too dependent on other files.
posted 07-13-2002 03:02 PM@ Hr.O, when you upgrade the program, could you indicate the actual version number in the first post. That will avoid useless downloadings and useless installations and uninstall. Thank you.

DLB over at bobdev.com wrote up this little ditty, and it sure doesn't have all the helpful features like HrO's at all, but it is slimware (35k app) and doesn't need any installer, and might help out a few people. Or not. (Not a competition to any other front end at all)
http://www.shadowspawn.net/temp/q3map2build.zip is the location, it's nothin much, but the only reason it was made was because, well, it's the only one that you don't have to chase down the author every time a new switch is made up.
I'ts a lean app.
Histroy.... During extensive testing over in #q3map, i wound up with am archived zip with no lie, over 40 batch files, one map had 20 lines most rem'd out. it became a headache, I asked dlb if he could do this, and since i was testing stuff in wolf, weaponsfactory, baseq3, and truecombat's new stuff I wanted something simple and i could just double click on. Works for multiple mods and all that; it saved me alot of time. Hey, WorksForMe. I have the guys over in #wfamaps using it and testing it, but most of em are still trying to figure out what -debugsurfaces does.
-edit-
also note the extra switch... just might come in usefull.

That is not correct. My Quake ToolKit also supports q3map2 alongside with other versions of q3map. But you can enter your own set of switches to be put at the commandline, so if a new switch is made, you can enter it manually until I caught up with my releases
edit: sorry for the pimpage HrO. Just had to pull this straight On another note, doesn't HrO's app have an editable commandline in the interface as well? So you can add you own switches anyway?

posted 07-17-2002 05:48 AMIn the last version, Q3Map2 Toolz v.00.01.0040, there are two small misspellings in Arena Editor, for Angel and Daemia, see image:
Why to have removed the automatic creation of the desktop shortcut? During the creation of the info file, it would be possible to save the file directly in baseq3 rather than in the logs folder? For the q3map2 switches, what think you of adding info-bubbles? In Arena Editor, how to show the path to reveal custom bots?

forgot to add to this installer

thought the logs-folder was a better place.

i regard that as part of the documentation, for which i haven't had the time yet.

Working on that although it'll be verry basic. Adding a way to read pk3-files to find custom bots will at least double the amount of code so that's a nono.
But keep in mind, this can take a few days, I'm in the midst of moving home ( http://planetquake.com/hro )
Originally posted by Hr.O: thought the logs-folder was a better place.
Perhaps, but mapacker seems to seek this file in baseq3, even if when the file is at the good place, it tells not to have found it, although it added it to the pk3.

If you can give me the code for only one switch, i can deal with the others and send the whole to you once finished. I think that small information while passing on the name with the mouse cursor would be welcome.

Not need to look in the pk3, they would be too tiresome, simply in baseq3/botfiles/bots.

No, it look for a mapname.txt, and your info file is saved in the form mapname.txt, so i'm using it for that purpose. All i have to do is adding a few words in it.

Ohh and most bots i d-loaded are neatly packed into pk3 files.
Don't know what is the simplest way, searching bots in pk3, or in baseq3/botfiles/bots.
I will check my mail for the file, thank you.

Just noticed I've never replied... After a fresh install, all went well and your tool is running fine, the fault was my really crappy windows installation (98SE, about 1 year old)
