P.S. Hi all. :)
Get the iMac.

No, from the docs of GCC 4, auto vectorized code need a GPU (Altivec/Velocity). It's not so say that GCC will do a good job at it *but* it's the first GCC that does it. FYI, .Net has such a feature.

ASE rocks, but now it's owned by Yahoo. To my knowledge, there're no Windows browsers that aren't owned by a big named corp. I did a Mac browser for Quake 3 derivatives a few years ago which seemed pretty popular. It was the first on OS X, I think. I did take a good look at ASE as that's what I'd be...

Sensi were better on the C64. Wizball was their best game, IMO, though Sinsible Soccer on the Amiga rocked, especially the banana kicks you could do :-)

I seem to recall that Ocean did a Mario clone based on the Adams Family which was neat. Great Guiana Sisters was also a popular game.

I have iWork, and would probably uses Pages a lot if I were in an academic class that required resentations. aside from that, I have yet to find a use for Pages, and haven;t really tried to see if its as good as Word for word processing. iLife, especially iDVD is really nice to easily make DVD's fr...

I could have sworn I saw a QuickTime codec for WMP recently. Google it.

I expect you need QuickTime installed but you won't have to run the QuickTime player.

BTW, as a Mac user, I use VLC instead of QuickTime. I can't say I like the Apple player *but* the new one in 10.4 appears to be a lot better.

You might try replace your Mac iTunes folder with a symlink to the Windows iTunes folder which you could share with Windows and have the Mac mount.

Dunno if it will work but with iTunes been a legacy Carbon app on OS X, it probably doesn't know what a symlink is ;-)

I miss-read the text on the image. I thought it said, "Not a Pentium" but it sure looks like one to scale ;-)

I understand the port was done by Duane Johnson of Aspyr and has nothing to do with ID. He did the BF1942 and Halo ports. It seems to be an XCode app (GCC 3.3) as it takes a command line. CodeWarrior apps don't, to my knowledge, as they don't use the UNIX libraries but their own libs ported from Cla...

10.4 will be released at WWDC, I'm pretty confident of that. Build numbers have slowed down but I do know there's a big gap in build numbers between what the Premier ADC members are seeing and what the elite members are seeing. Can't say more there. As for what it's like, it's noticeably faster on a...

Yeah, he was working on a neato app for money. If it comes off, chance are a lot of you will be using it.

I spoke to him sometime ago, November I guess, and he said that he'd revisit QM2.0 when he was done with the killer app.

Letter from the Eastern Front

Some of you will already know I've been busy in the last couple of months. As it stands, right now, we have a home-made Quake 3 compatible master server running which *will* work with my new browser app, "666.app". As the name implies, it if centered around the upcoming release of Doom 3 a...

Help would be appreciated.

Dual 2Ghz G5 with 1.5GB RAM.

1.33Ghz 15" Powerbook with 768MB RAM.

iSight, but that was a freebie at WWDC.
