Eveytime I change a setting in the console, it doesnt save when I start quake back up again. How do I make it so that everything I adjust in the console saves into my config?

My system specs are as follows:

P4 2.8g 800 fsb
1 gig pc3200 ram
ATI x850 pro 256 mb

What settings in the console can I adjust to give me the smoothest gameplay? I sometimes drop to 10 fps during action. I'm used to playing Q3 with a constant 125 fps and being as smooth as can be.

Well, it worked the first time I tried it, but now it doesn't. Wierd.

I added that in my config. The console works with just the tilde key now. Was that right or should I have not done that in my config?

It was the tilde [`] key for Q3. Please help.
