Re: Lightmap error and another error =)
This made an old guy smile actually. I was begining to think nobody cared about construction any more. More and more I see technology being used to create a look of quality when technically the substance is lacking. Even wrote an artical about it: HERE Appologies for going off topic. I guess this is...

Re: Movies - Level Design Inspiration
LOTR for sure, or anything that features fantasy/gothic architecture. I love the lighting of the beacon sequence in Return of the Kiing so much.
Not into scifi at all really.
Other influences...hmm, the Third Man, or any other film noir.

Re: Screenshots
I really miss water in Quake maps :( Looks good, rock textures are nice. Are they game default or custom? A couple of bits and pieces I have been working on. Both may feature in a SP map, or depending upon the tools, may be absorbed into a QW:ET idea I've been developing assets for. The shot below w...

Re: Q4 scripting question
Thanks Castle....I just discovered the cinematic key! Should have realised having bound the camera to a target and had the same thing. heh
In between working I have been trying to do this all day....and one 9 letter word was all that was wrong!

Q4 scripting question
Hi, appologies if this is a dumb questions, but my knowledge of scripting is still at a basic level: My set up is as follows...walk into an area and trigger the door closing behind you. Continue forward and trigger a camera that swings around the room in a circle looking towards the closed door then...

Re: Hey I have an odd question!
I have so little interest in game play, so I can say this:
I always thought UT2k4 maps could look so good. Maybe for us id based designers, the maps were not 'well made', but they looked so pretty.
This looks like a serious return to form indeed. Very very nice. If only my UT DVD still bloody worked.

Yes. Anwulf has, using mainly TA tex iirc and myself (MC turtle map contest) using inition's texture set.

Re: Q4 MP Gothic Cathedral
TY. For now at least it is done. At some point in the future I may some back and re do the texturing, there are a couple of UVW issues on the ceiling I spoted too. I really need to put it aside right now though. I have learned a huge amount about model design and texture creation doing this, it has ...

Re: Q4 MP Gothic Cathedral
I SO wasn't going to do this, but made an update to this. Same download as above. I have added bases to the pillars and reworked the floor area. The blue/orange floor texture is replaced with a flag stone texture. This new texture is pretty hight res and has bumped up the file size a little. Sorry f...

Re: Q4 MP Gothic Cathedral
kk, Working on a small update. I really thought adding bases to the pillars would grind the level to a halt, but I was wrong. Having made the alteration, I like it very much. I'm wasting tris, but that cant be helped as re-working from scratch is not really an option. What a remarkable engine this i...

Re: Q4 MP Gothic Cathedral
Thanks for taking the time to look. Here are my thoughts about my project: Firstly that link shows Classical architecture, not Gothic, Classical style tends to be seen more in secular architecture rather than religious. I did worry about the base of the columns and I did worry about whether or not I...

Re: Q4 MP Gothic Cathedral
Thanks for input. What you cant tell from screen shots alone is that the 'generic' texture used on the window arches is individually UVW mapped on to each arch. Although the arches them selves all finish at the same point, the textures from one to another do not repeat. I did consider using a textur...

TY. Not really dropped....I still may do an 'outside', thing is, the point I began the project skill wise was some way below the point I finished, to build an outside area would really have meant rebuilding areas inside that I built first. The entire thing was one massive learning experience really,...

Sure..... I found my music (under free licence) in mp3 format, used oggdrop to convert it to ogg vorbis format. Placed the music in a 'sound' folder under the baseq4 folder. Initially I tried creating a sound shader but for some reason Q4 wouldn't find the file properly, so on Kat's advice I referen...

Q4 MP music
For the project I am working on atm I could really do with adding global music to the level. Spooky organ music would underpin the atmosphere nicely. Adding the usual q3 key to world spawn doesnt seem to work, but then again there might be something wrong with my ogg file. I can play my .ogg from in...

I love that top shot Method....I thought that was the in game shot to begin with and nearly had a fit :) My beams: http://www.leveldk.co.uk/ctf1/beam.jpg That was for the CTF map I did. Granted it's recatangular and not curved. In many ways bits of map like that are alot easier to pull off in a mode...
