Re: 10 years ago today!
To commemorate this momentous occasion, I present you with an exclusive look at this never-seen-before Q2 map. PJW may have shown you his first publicly released map--pfffftt, I say. This is literally my first map I ever made! Entitled "The Beaverhouse," it has nothing to do with beavers o...

I don't think there is anything wrong with continually using the same map, assuming it is a great map. Imagine if they changed the "map" in basketball or chess!

Re: Sketchup
We tried it at work for awhile but ended up abandoning it in favor of 2D overhead drawings + 3D concepts of areas. It's good if you're really adept at using it, and you're just doing a quick basic layout, but it can really suck when you start doing multiple revisions on a layout.

Re: Looking for Giant Quake 3 maps
Off the top of my head:
Snickelfritz's FlatIron was pretty big IIRC
Oh, and Castle's Water Giant was huuuge...
Post up the IP and time, and I might join (of course, I could just check that ESR thread again, but I'm lazy...).

Re: ..::LvL Re-designed
Visually and conceptually, the new site is pretty interesting... But functionally, I'm not a big fan. The timeline takes up the bottom third of the screen, so the actual map detail pages are all scrunched in and you have to scroll. And then when I click on Top Maps, it doesn't show anything in the a...

Heh, evidently I didn't look hard enough the first time I looked. I found it in a backup directory in my MilkShape3D folder. Not sure whether its the correct version, but you can try it:

That looks a ton better seremtan. Although it could still use a thin global fog over the entire level. I would remove the reflectiveness from the water since it really isn't getting you that much for the cost, especially with that fog down there blocking your view of it.
