Re: phong shader on cylinder

No, its just a brush, 1/4 of a cylinder. I was messing around with the shade angle :) I think I started with 90. I will see how its mapped with the surface inspector.

phong shader on cylinder

I followed Sock's tutorial on creating a phong shader, left it mapping a grey texture for now. When I apply it to a brush, in this case a curved 1/4 cylinder the coords flip at the half way point or something, and a hard edge is generated, and an artifact in the shadow map. What I am doing wrong ? /...

Re: New CTF map testing - Derwyll's Castle

this map looks freaking awesome.
only suggestion to add would be a "nodrop" brush to ensure weapons aren't dropped into the void.

Endcap patch re-disperse problem.

Apologies if this has been posted before and solved, here or somewhere else, I google'd and searched on here. GTK 1.5 I create an endcap, for an arch say, before I cap it I want to add some more detail, so I add / insert some columns and then go to re-disperse the mesh and one side of it goes comple...

It probably l...

Re: a bit of inspiration

Very pretty, but kinda made me feel woozy after about 5 mins. (dof/focusing got kinda old quick...) it looks like the result of years of experience and then months of hard work, (haven't read up on Alex Roman, but will...) mind boggling to a mear dabbler like myself. Some of the comments are pretty ...

Re: Light shader on model

Ok, works great! I have the model directly referenced in the func_rotating with the model2 key and it all displays and rotates exactly where I want it perfectly :D sweet. (manually setting the origin, I couldn't get an origin brush to work) but now the texture doesn't work :/ if I place the same mod...

Re: Light shader on model

That didn't work for some reason, first thing I did was place a light inside and it blacked out, I probably didn't compile the md3 properly.
Anyway I have another dumb question !
I have a model that has a rotating part and realized too late that mapobject models can't have animations ? :/

Re: Light shader on model

Thanks Obsidian :)

I'll probably just place 4 lights around the model, I tried it with one and it looked pretty bad, as its a cylindrical light (duh!)
Or I may just apply an existing light shader to a cylindrical brush and place inside the model, deleting that part of the model.

Light shader on model

Hi all. I haven't posted here in a very long time, I made a map way back in 2005 and posted it here with the account name "Kali1900" Anyway, forgot the email/pw for that account :) I have a question about getting a light shader to work on a model, and I've been making my eyes bleed trying ...
