Re: Present us your junk (audio-recordings)

3 years later and I have some more junk to present. A Garage Rocker My attempt at Triphop/Bigbeat, earlier DJ Shadow- style. A Synth cover of "Surface Of The Sun" from the soundtrack to Danny Boyle's movie "Sunshine" and a few more tracks on my soundcloud. Any feedback (construct...

The year review threat! What was it that made this year for you (or not)? My choices pro 2023: - the orange hair dude was pretty silent - locally, there were some warm and dry days in spring and fall - Movie: "Flora and Son", 9/10 My choices anti 2023: - the world doesn't care about orange...

Re: What is new in your little world?

Seems crazy to me that you'd hit the PU selector while strumming, haha. Are you windmilling it or something? :D It's a habbit I got from the Strat. Like Mat said, you can comfortably play it strumming softly or picking over the neck pickup or even on the neck itself, around the 19th fret. Playing i...

Re: The last movie you saw

The Matrix Resurrections (2021) :olo: It's not that bad. I think it's better than part 3, if not part 2. I like the way it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a fun ride, compared to the old movies that tried to come up with that perfect world- building. Part 1 succeded, no questions asked. But...

A new guitar; a Gibson Les Paul Tribute- model from 2019 in satin tobacco- burst. My first "real" Gibson, despite a Thunderbird. Les Pauls never really were my kind of thing. Too hairy metal... Then 6 months ago, around came a good offer on ebay for a lefty Tribute- model . Same specs as a...

Technologically, yes. But an open- source and free alternative to proprietary systems like Neural DSP (TM) or such. All of those modeller- systems work with neural networks that are trained to find the very specifics in tone of a given amp or overdrive/distortion- pedal. It's similar to the way you ...

Neural Amp Modeler Plugin A VST3 plugin to use with your DAW or Standalone. It's kind of like your Kemper/AxeFX/ToneX etc. -Modelers but it's freeware and open source. You can also create models with the supported tool . Tonehunt seems to be great start to find uploaded models. There's also a FB gr...

Same here in Germany. Let the (good) times roll.... Today was the opening day of Oktoberfest 2022 in Munich and I attended it. Only because my father got seats through some connections. We went with the whole family. Usually I don't attend the "Wiesn". Can you imagine a bigger mega-spreade...

Lots of money to be made in the event-branche post-Covid during these months in Germany. Be it lighting-, sound-, media-technician. Concerts, faires, conferences. Fuck me, companies all over are looking for capacities at the moment. Well, most of the event-companies fired a lot of their people aroun...

Re: What's the biggest thing you ever lost to a HDD crash/wipe?

The SCSI-HD in my Yamaha hardware sampler died around 2005. That was tragedy. Lots of recorded material on that one. No backup on the PC. I was able to recover some but most was gone. I've never lost anything on a PC's HD or SSD though. And I didn't even raid or paid much attention. Guess I am a luc...

If you are into the classic 2001: A Space Odyssey you must watch this series... I have a deep interest into how visual or practical effects were realized in the earlier days of cinematography, prior to CGI. I think it is fascinating, the magic of cinema really (when it is combined with good editing...

The Sandman on Netflix. Binged 5 of the 10 episodes yesterday.
Never read the comics or anything else by Gaiman.
I like it. Interesting worldbuilding and plot. Mostly a fast but pleasent pace. Great set pieces, camera, lighting, acting... Yeah, overall 8/10.

Re: Shinzo Abe

I've come to know his name during the Fukushima- accident and the aftermath of that. Not much of a backlash happened back than against the energy-company Tepco. I really don't known anything about japanese inner-politics. As it seems he was a right-wing nationalistic premier during his time. Left-wi...

Antlers Horror movie that deals with the Wendigo myth, set in modern times Northwestern USA. 6/10 The Wendigo from what I've read is a myth of north-american natives. From what I understand it's a phantastical creature created to push the guilt away that arises from cannibalistic and/or abusive beh...

Old M. Night Shyamalan's 2021 movie about people who happen to age rapidly on some beach. 5/10 I like Shyamalan for the most part. I think he is mistreated by the interwebs. Sixth Sense is generally considered his best work although personally, I prefer Unbreakable. The Village is a really good exa...

Very PJ Harvey'ish. Their other stuff rather reminds of Mazzy Star.
