just out of curiosity: is anyone at all playing in survival mode? just wondering, because if there is i might build a mob trap tower in that park next to the spawn, which will serve the dual function of producing loads of goodies, as well as giving mobs somewhere useful to spawn instead of in caves...

To counteract the experience orb bug, put all your stuff in a box somewhere and swim in some deep lave, it should kill the orbs you've collected.
