Re: Quake 3 25th Anniversary Contest

..::LvL hardly gets any new map submissions, unless they are from Spike or one of his friends :) There are clearly people that are still tinkering maps and mods (myself include). About 6 years now for one map for me due to lack of free time to work on it. It is a nice idea and would be awesome to s...

Not sure if this helps at all, but netradiant custom includes an advanced version of q3map2: https://github.com/Garux/netradiant-custom

Ultimate Skybox Pack (3700+ Skies with Shaders)

Hello everyone! Ghost and Garux (FM/AM) have been working on this project for about 8 months. They collected all the Skyboxes they could find and updated their shaders to make use of new/improved q3map2 features so make sure to use the latest release of q3map2 which is bundled with NetRadiant Custom...

how did you manage to offset the func_button origin without adding an extra brush into the entity?

Sublime Text already has a shader syntax highlighter:

Could use some updates though.

Re: Quake maps and mods for 2022

As for Quake 3, besides the occasional lvlworld release, most mapping probably happens in the defrag-mod community. The defrag world cup maps from 2021 and 2019 are definitely worth checking out for some eye candy: https://ws.q3df.org/maps/?map=dfwc2019 https://ws.q3df.org/maps/?map=dfwc2021 The q3e...

Active collection of mapping guides, tools, resources, etc.

Over the past two years of learning mapping myself, I have gathered many useful resources that helped me learn. In addition, I also started writing my own guides for new techniques and such. There are some amazing tools being worked on such as a much improved version of NetRadiant with a bunch of ne...

A list of mapping communities on Discord

Most gaming related communities nowadays are on Discord, which makes it harder to find up-to-date information on topics like quake 3 mapping online. Discord actually has a great 'search' function that makes it easy to find info on a specific topic, however, you won't find it through google like you ...

Re: OpenRadiant

It's been ages since I used GTK because i couldnt even get it running on Windows 10. It sounds like there are few very specific differences that are lost in netradiant, but at the same time, i think you gain a whole lot more new functionality. Some of them can probably be worked around. e.g. The ent...

Re: OpenRadiant

Im wondering, what are your issues with the Garux NetRadiant specifically? I find that it's highly customizable and doesn't lack anything that earlier versions had that I know of. Most importantly, it's actively developed and open source, so if there is anything you're missing in that version you ca...

Re: Double map madness

These screenshots look great but it seems like the download links are down? (Not on lvlworld yet either. Did you submit them?) Btw, there is some discussion about this new implementation of engine-brightened lightmaps, I'm curious about your opinion on it: https://github.com/ec-/Quake3e/issues/8 ......
