Have a merry Christmas and a good and positive 2026 everyone. At least, until WW3 breaks out.

Re: What is new in your little world?
Q3W has been one of the most insane places on the internet I've ever frequented. But somehow, nowadays, even looking back at Q3W's history, it feels like the only sane place left on the Internet.

Been playing it a lot too. I'm completely casual about it though. Tend to avoid PvP as much as possible and mostly get a kick out of friendly and humorous interactions with other players. You should take a look at the 3 part making of/behind the scenes series on YouTube, made by Danny O'Dwyer from n...

Re: My experience with Q3 (about 2 weeks)
If you want to create your own game, Quake 3 is a pretty poor place to start for various reasons. First of all, the game is over 25 years old. You won't find much active help because most of the community has moved on. Compare that to engines like Unity, Godot or RPGMaker, which are all still fully ...

Re: Work in progress [BETA] (13th June, 2025)
Wow, really impressive map. There's so much attention to detail. And I love that it uses a very classic textureset but it looks like something that could've been part of Unreal Tournament 2004, or an even more recent game. Would be great if the texture on the giant Lion head would be a bit higher re...

Re: EntityPlus - A single player Q3 mod
Yes it does. You score points through various means. You gain points by dealing damage to and killing enemies. Level designers can also place target_secret entities in there which, when triggered, will get you points as well. After you've completed the level you can also see how many secrets there a...

Re: EntityPlus - A single player Q3 mod
Hello? *taps microphone* Is this thing still on? Either way, I've just released a new version of EntityPlus (1.1.11). It contains two fixes and a new addition: [Added] NO_SPARKS spawnflag to target_laser. [Fixed] Loot items not giving health/ammo/armor if item doesn't have count key set. [Fixed] Pla...

Re: AI art
Eh I dunno, learning to do art seems like much more valuable and satisfactory path to take than dicking around with prompts to get a piece of software to sort of do what you want it to do.

Re: AI art
But to make something serious with it, it requires patience and dedication. True AI artists tweak the generative prompt and generate thousands of pictures before they find the one they like. And even then, the final generated picture is often tweaked manually in Photoshop or something similar (like...

Re: AI art
Mat's example of AI sounds like a useful thing, but note how it's not a process that involves creativity. It's a quantifiable thing that can be rated from good to bad based on tangible parameters.
The popular generative AI's for doing "creative" things seem largely overhyped to me.

Re: What is new in your little world?
I've seen it, Mat. I never had a problem with Yngwie. He's kind of brazen and over-the-top, but the man is oozing with virtuosity and skill and has a deep, deep passion for the guitar. It's easy to mistake his brazenness for arrogance, but I think that would really sell him short. There's a hilariou...
