Exactly this. Loved his work.MKJ wrote:whoa, not sure what to say.
not like we knew him personally but it does hit a lot closer to home. always loved his work and was genuinely saddened way back when when he got fired from id.
truly one of the greats

Re: Q3shw21: Destroyer - Beta1
I like how the map looks, I'm not an enthusiast of it's gameplay. My only concern about the visual part of the level is that it's still too dark - teleporters are barely visible. IIRC some q3map2 switches could help you with this (-gamma 4 and -compensate 4). Also, I second what obsidian said about ...

Re: Screenshots
Actually, its a remix (every visually changed version is labeled remix in the cpm world), not a remake. Its a visual overhaul, nothing more. I would know, seing how I'm on the design team aswell. (cpma standalone) The pillar has one corner cut - it's something more than a visual overhaul :sly: BTW:...

Re: Movies - Level Design Inspiration
Lukin lives. Where have you been man? I'm still working on that texture pack. I own movie Pi, but tell me in what way does it inspire you as a mapper? I like Immotel btw. Hehe, I don't have time much time for mapping recently. Every time I think I'll have a few days to make anything in radiant some...

Re: Movies - Level Design Inspiration
"Blade Runner" - once I made a Q3A level heavy inspired by this movie. With a zeppelin, huge neons, pouring rain, and so on. I think I released a beta somewhere, can't find it now. It was terrible map performance and gameplay wise anyway. But the movie... The Director's Cut is a masterpiec...

I've made a few videos for thos of you who can't check the map by themselves. They were recorded on an old machine (Vista doesn't like my soundcard), hence the dramatically low frame rate in some parts.... If you're going to play the level than better don't watch these. Intro + a couple of minutes o...

I use Q4Radiant on Vista without any problems (although I would not recommend Vista to anyone atm). You might need to turn off Aero Glass to see Render preview. Also, I've heard about some issues with CRT monitors (refresh rate resets to minimal value sometimes or something like this) but can't tell...

1.4.1 tends to have problems with sp mode - I think it has something to do with sound (s_volume 0 eliminated crashes in my case). Tethers worked fine though...
Anyway, better downgrade to 1.4.0 or wait a few days for 1.4.2
In the meantime check my sp map

The visual style is a little bit incoherent, but it looks nice. Even very nice in some places. Gameplay wise the map lacks something. The layout seems to be oversimplified and quite uninteresting after a while. I guess it's too late to say that since it's a final version, but, well, you asked for an...

I think with first person shooters especially, developers are just running out of ideas. So many interesting story lines have already been done, and loads of different game play types have already been done, so in the end we just get the same old stuff. The only thing that seems to change majorly a...

I'm with spookminer - the mapping is dead because the communities for each game are getting smaller and smaller. I think that people still make maps, for this game or another, but they do it just for themseves. The overall number of mappers may decreased, yet still I get a lot of questions how to th...

Q4: Devil's Waitin'
A little single player project for "Quake 4". It's a humble level made only in about three weeks (and only 1/3 of this was for the work on a geometry). Even my mp maps were not made that fast so don't expect the best thing you've ever played. Nonetheless I think (/hope) you'll enjoy these ...

Yeah, it's gonna look better, especially a location on the 2nd shot. Decals, sparks, flickering lights, smoke, fog, gibs, wires, broken rails and all the rest of cheap action-shooter effects are gonna be there ;) I doubt it will end as something spectacular though - I have to finish the whole thing ...

Well, I don't mean a site with just a links or one or two rss feeds. I thought it should be sort of an automatic thing compiling articles from all around the web - like this: http://www.planet-php.net/. Or eventually somethig akin to digg (like this: http://www.devbump.com/) - but of course focused ...

Yeah, I know PNG sucks for screenshots - don't know why I had used this format. Fixed this and sans serif fonts as well. Regarding the mail.... Well, spam bots are so clever today that [at] instead of @ doesn't stop them, and I suppose (basing on a number of spam I recieve) that my address is in eve...

http://www.lukinonline.com Ok, I had one before... But this one is coller, bigger, better... First and foremost: adding a content to it is easier so expect more updates. It's not visually stunning by any means (I spent less than few hours on the graphic :P). My excuse? Usability, as the gameplay in...
