Dunno, looks just like hl with a little specularity and some lighting effects. Meh.

Yeah, but can't anything be same gen instead of pushing the envelope?

edit: I mean really. For some reason we expect every new game to break new ground or it's not worth looking at. That is a bit rediculous. Why not tread some ground already layed for a bit. I remember when a new look and/or engine would last a while. Seems gamers have become a bit jaded. Nothing is quite good enough anymore. Whatever happened to just enjoying a game for what it is? Ok enough melodrama.

I think it looks great and will be quite fun. :)

Well, it's hard to say much about it from that low quality video, but it didn't feel very "dynamic" when it comes to lighting and atmosphere. Granted, the original was pretty drab and dull (I have to confess that I didn't like it much, too slow and empty for my taste), and this seems to be just a superficial graphics update.

Btw, what's the difference between this and the hl:source that came out a couple of years ago?

K you posted while I was major editing.

I happened to love the original. I have no idea what the difference is from the HL source that came out already. It may be a completely new game. No idea.

hl source is just a straight port. BMS is a rebuild

the screens give a better impression of the work than this conceptual bullshit video

Yeah, its a money grab that the games FREE and been made by a mod team at a standard that most full paid developers cant even match :dork:

Fuck even if its not free, its still worth the price of a full game...

i think the motive is that HL:Source sucked, since it was just HL1 on the source engine (nothing new at all), while in BM they rebuild everything to make it look like HL2. kinda what HL:Source shouldve been.

if you look at the screens on their site, some of the rebuilding is waay OTT (i.e. simple transitional areas turned into gorgeous richly detailed palaces of industrial splendour), but I think it'll be well worth the download when it comes

actually, the fuckers should release it episodically, and save us the wait

speaking of mods: anyone been looking forward to that COD mod 'operation market garden'? the dickweeds said they'd finished it, only to then snatch it from the waiting hands of their fans and hand it off to a totally different mod team and now we have no idea when it's coming out :dork:

Here in like three fucking years when Xen comes out, and you can play it all together, that might seem like a good idea. From my vantage point, it's a shit idea. Somebody asked the lead dev if it would take years for Xen to come out and his response was something to the effect of, "We've already started working on Xen."

To me, translated, that means: "We've barely completed anything on Xen and like the Duke Nukem Forever/Daikatana fucktards we are, have nearly completed Xen like three times and trashed it because some goddamn new shader or some shit came out, just like we did on the 3-years-late piece of content we're finally releasing in two weeks."

i hate it when amateur game devs spend years rebuilding an entire classic game from scratch in a new engine, then release their work for free

don't these people realise we have lives?

Oh fuck you if you think there's not something to inspire antagonism against that development team. Flashback to 2009...

Game has been in development already for fucking years. The promise is made that "it will be released by the end of the year!" December 31st rolls around. No game. We get a "sorry jk lolol" bullshit post instead. So you can decide:

A) They made the decision THAT DAY that they were going to release. That is some bullshit right there. I mean, duh.

B) They decided at some point before the appointed day of release that they weren't going to release it on said day... and yet they still waited until fucking midnight or whenever it was of December 31 to make the announcement. This is also some egregious bullshit.

Flash-forward THREE FUCKING YEARS. There has been an extremely scarce amount of information to come out of the team over the last ~thousand days or so, other than screenshots here and there of god damn boxes and wall textures. Then, in the last couple of weeks, interviews start to show up.

In one of these interviews, the project lead actually says something to the effect of, "I hope it's clear we're going to be rolling this out in installments instead of one big package."

I must have missed the smattering of text at some point over the last half-decade of where they said we'd only be getting a portion of the project to download. This tidbit in the interview is followed by the recent news that they've "already started on Xen," which, to my eyes, reads as I described above.

So fuck the sarcastic, high and mighty/holier than thou/"oh since it's free, you can't complain!" stance.

So what have these people done to you, Mogul, that you feel entitled to owning the (free) product that they have been working on (without being payed and in their free time)?
