Thanks seremtan

The Socceroos left early too I see but I had to ask Google :smirk:

Quote:
Are the Socceroos out of World Cup for 2022?

Australia has been eliminated from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ after a 2-1 Round of 16 loss to Argentina on Sunday morning (AEDT). Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez were on target for the Albiceleste before a Craig Goodwin's strike........

I was referring to our complete lack of a WC thread here.

Discord well and truly killed this place.

Kind of but I find it hard to 'follow' the topic/thread in Discord, then, they call me "Old Fart" :smirk:

No you're absolutely right. Discord is a completely different type of medium. It's a fleeting thing. A chat that comes and goes by. I think it's nice to be able to directly chat with Q3W folks, but you won't get pages long discussions about an above ground pool there. And it certainly won't be neatly archived for generations to come

i get the strong sense from the Discord discussion that it's lowkey outrage about it being held in Qatar

That goes for a lot of people. Here in The Netherlands this must be the least celebrated world cup in decades. And rightly so, to be honest.

I'm not super outraged, but I don't agree with it all.
The main thnig for me is that there is WAY too much else to focus on in December with christmas, kids school stuff etc.
World cups, olympics etc are always much more interesting when there's nothing else really going on.

when you put the world map of countries that are member nations of FIFA and the world heatmap of acceptance of LGBTQ+ people, you realise that this is something we're going to end up having to get used to, and not just to do with football
