I've put some hours into Kona lately.
I don't remember hearing anything about it when it was released. Having really enjoyed Firewatch, Kona is significantly more interactive and enjoyable.

Wife and I are still playing Divinity Original Sin. We have a lot of fun with it. I’m hoping DOS2 is ported to Xbox so we can continue the story...

I don't know why but I stumbled upon an online slot machine game. We call them poker machines here. I started with only 200 credits. After 3 days of playing intermittently and I'd estimate for maybe 8 hours here's the result and just now

Still just mostly playing Stand Out, PuBG and Soundboxing. Nothing new in the VR space that has jumped out.

Wolfenstein 2 - The New Colossus
Brilliant game; builds on the first one and seems to add plenty. Very much enjoying it, though I dare say I am being rather too cautious and therefore doing many deaths.
Lots of collectables to get...which I am about to go and make a start on

Downloaded and installed Fortnite yesterday. It's got a Battle Royale mode which is F2P (don't worry, no loot boxes and only cosmetic items to be bought).
The Battle Royale mode is basically just a cartooney version of PUBG. It plays much more arcadey and the tempo generally is a bit higher. No vehicles but it has the building mechanisms of the base Fortnite game, which means you can build floors, walls and stairs and stuff, which allows you to basically set up a small base for yourself.
I've done a few game (finished #8 on my best run) and it's pretty good fun. Best of all, it's made by Epic Games on Unreal Engine 4 so it's optimized to perfect smoothness. Runs very well.

Re: So, what games are you playing now?
I would say the same, but I've never played one, so it wouldn't strictly be true.
I kinda stay away from MP-only games these days, and if I do play MP, I prefer co-op to competetive.
I am still playing a lot of The Division, which is online only, but there's a lot of the game that can be played solo. Certainly a lot more than more traditional MMOs.
However, I do spend a lot of time in The Dark Zone, where other players can go rogue, kill you and nick your loot, but I find that just adds to the frisson. I don't go seeking PvP encounters, and if one takes me by surprise, I'll try to run rather than stick around and fight if it's possible.
One thing I'm curious about Plunkbat though; once you die in a round, do you stick around and observe, or immediately try and find another game? Isn't the flow like a really long-winded game of Clan Arena or Counterstrike?

I had to think really hard what you meant with that!
In Fortnite, I usually just take a good look at where the person was who killed me and then move on to the next game, except for that one game where I got seventh, I sat it out to see who ended up winning. I read Fortnite's pace is a little higher than PUBG though, so matches tend to be a bit shorter as well. The map is significantly smaller in Fortnite too.Mat Linnett wrote:once you die in a round, do you stick around and observe, or immediately try and find another game? Bought human fall flat to play with my younger son. We had a great time playing it together, I highly recommend it if you're looking for something fun and creative to play.
Re: So, what games are you playing now?
I must admit I don't think Fortnite will stick in the long run if it stays the way it is. It's probably a lot better if you play in a squad with mates, but the gameplay is just a tad too shallow right now. Also, what's inherent to this type of game is the possibility of spending two and a half minutes loading the game, waiting for other players and dropping out of the drop vehicle and you die 10 seconds after you land. Or, even worse, if you played a couple of minutes without running into anyone and then are sniped in a single shot by the first person you run into.Don Carlos wrote:I can't get into the who Battle Royale type of games...they just don't do it for me
Then again, in the next game you enter you may find yourself sneaking up to this dude building this immense fortress for himself and you're playing this great game of hide and seek and end up killing the dude. There's awesome thrills to be found in this game. The question is if these weigh up to the quick deaths and wasted time or if it gets annoying real quickly.
For now I'm enjoying this game because it feels new and fresh. Can't say now if it'll stay that way.

Try pubg. I'll duo with you. DC is a horrible friend.

Playing Overwatch right now. Join me bishes.
Re: So, what games are you playing now?
So I'm starting to lose interest in Fortnite again. Conceptually, the game still interests me. I've had quite a few really cool and interesting moments in the game. Unfortunately though, most of those ended up with me getting killed. And that's where the crux is.
When I play other games like Quake or indeed Overwatch, getting killed means a minor 10 second setback after which you can join the battle again. The good thing in Fortnite (and other battle royale games) is that the hard death kind of thing they've got going on means that the game becomes much more tense to play, because getting killed really means the game ends. However, it also means you have about 1 player interaction (firefights) every 10 or so minutes. Since I still basically suck at this game, most player interactions mean I die.
Every player interaction in any MP game is a learning moment. When a new character is introduced in Overwatch, you play a few games with that character and you'll get a solid feel for its movement characteristics, its powers and its weapon(s). Just being able to judge how much damage you've really done or how large the spread on that shotgun type of weapon really is, or what the damage falloff over range is, those things become intuition at some point because you've experienced it over and over and over again. Maybe even up to 20 or 30 times a game.
With Fortnite, there are so few player interactions that I still have no feeling for the weapons. I am still shit at using a sniper rifle because they're relatively rare and they are projectile weapons where you really have to lead your target because it takes some time for the bullet to cover that distance. I can't hit shit because I've been able to shoot like 5 sniper rifle bullets in the 15 games I've done. It's not enough to develop a good feeling for it and build skill.
So yeah, tl;dr I suck at the game. But worst of all, I don't feel like I can efficiently improve. The result is that I start a game pretty much knowing that if I run into anyone I'll end up dead, which is not the best motivator.

Re: So, what games are you playing now?
Drop hot. Get better at general gunplay. Then those interactions end up being less a big deal.
I play a lot of solo squads in those kinds of games and I just drop somewhere that theres tons of people. I either clean up, get 6+ kills and play a top 10 circle game, or I get a couple kills and die because the team i engaged wasnt awful and it was 4v1.
Just, idk. Chill and drop hot. Its made me a better player in general. I'm not king shit or anything but its def improved my game.
