Fender you meant to say SS:MM:HH right? having saif that , I see the relation to time format, but hear me out before you completely ignore my POV...most of the time when someone asks for the date they really just want to know the day, because usually the month and the year is known.

so by significance I would name the day first before the month and year.
In comparison time is not as much of a constant as the date is, hence the 'hh.mm.ss' format.

I actually agree with Tsakali. You could almost argue mm:hh because the most common reply to time is "quarter past 6, half past 5, 10 till 7, etc".

Seeing as how it's not actually your birthday, I would like to revoke my "HBD!" and charge you a total of $12.73 in interest and administrative charges. kthx.

I think he got it right for what he meant. Putting the smallest increment in the middle. However most of the time when speaking I would say April 10th instead of 10th of April. But that is from habit of hearing and seeing it that way all my life.

then he shouldn't be replying to me cause frankly that doesn't make any sense, in comparison to what I said. :offended:

The point is that the most significant digit is to the left, with decreasing significance to the right.
