Yes, liking this - I'm getting vibes of "Doves", also worth a check if you haven't heard them before?

hah... I knew their top pick on Spotify (Fanfare III) sounded familiar - it was in my saved playlist of music that Spotify recommended me in 2020

Hmmm, wonder it there are any Heavy Metal fans about :D

I chatted to a band member the other day and all because of the 'T' shirt he was wearing
Sadly I missed the live show at an old 'watering hole' just the other night, still aim to see these guys live.

I'm extremely excited because I just discovered that after a 10 year hiatus, Porcupine Tree is coming with a new album in June 2022. They also released a first single

Been listening to a fair amount of The Fearless Flyers recently.
Incredibly tight and funky:

And some Wet Leg, who I love to bits:

And some Amyl and the Sniffers, which is almost pure attitude:

And a band I just discovered this week, Nova Twins, who really fucking rock:

Very PJ Harvey'ish. Their other stuff rather reminds of Mazzy Star.

I've been learning guitar over the last year and I'm just in awe of their technical abilities. I wish I had 1/100th the skill of Tim but yeah, they sound like machines.

On a 1 - 10 scale it scores a holy shit when it comes to technical prowess, but yeah, that's about all I can say about it

It's a bit more musical than bollocks like Periphery, and I quite enjoyed that latest one, Ego Death.
But I wish they'd show some sign that they're at least enjoying themselves.
The self-serious posturing winds me RIGHT up.

The other young musical polymath that I'm insanely jealous of, but can admit that he can at least compose something melodic and/or catchy, is Jacob Collier. There's still something about him that I find immensely punchable, but he writes beautiful music, and is a great educator.

lol, incidently I stumbled upon this today

Turned it off after 3 minutes. Sounded like someone being incredibly jealous. Or do you think he may have a point somewhere along those 17 minutes?

Nah, yer right, mostly insanely jealous.
Like I say, there is something about Collier that rubs me up the wrong way, and he can be needlessly pretentious, but I won't diss his chops.

In contrast to the butthurt yowler that you posted above Eraser, here's a vid of Jacob playing with John Mayer and Lizzy McAlpine that shows he doesn't just play or sing ridiculously unnecessary and tuneless bollocks.
It's a bit too MOR for my tastes, but he at least shows that he's got the chops to play with John & Lizzy, and his voice compliments the song beautifully:

But for something that I really enjoyed recently, here's the Fearless Flyers warming up backstage. Fuck me, they're tight, and Nate's an INCREDIBLE drummer. Bass drum, snare, high-hat. That's it:

Oi nice to see Lari on here, I've been following her for a few years now. She has mad chops! I haven't bought her latest album yet but the one before that is pretty solid all the way through. Gives me Satch vibes. She has impeccable tone.

Jacob Collier is pretty cool too, I only like a handful of his songs but he definitely has chops.

OK one more from Lari... love her phrasing on this little jaunt. She makes it look so easy.
