Unless you see the police.

Will be in NY in August, then a float around the Caribbean for October.

Mobile phones :smirk:

I bought the Mrs a new mobile for Christmas and I tried for a couple of hour this afternoon to unlock a supposedly unlocked mobile.
Short story, Telco  Google

All good and I now have a spare mobile handset that costs $5AUD for the next 365 days so I am happy as Larry :D

Just dropped in to see if anyone still had a minecraft server up. No bueno ;(

Getting on a plane tomorrow to the UK, gotta go sort some family stuff out. Means leaving the missus to look after our troublesome rainbow chicken.

It's possible. She makes interesting google searches if left unchecked. A few days ago she managed to bring up google sheets and load a CV template. About time she started earning her keep.

Foo aren’t you in New Zealand? The wife and I are considering a trip there in a few months. Can you suggest some locations?

Foo!

Our old MC server was epic.

My kids got into minecraft and spoiled it for me. It’s come a long way since alpha days.

I don't really play any more but being overseas for a month or three it would be a good way to still get time in with the missus, cross timezone. Even then, vanilla used to be fun but now it takes a 200+ mod autismal orgy to get me off.

For sure. What do you like to do? It'll be heading into Autumn in a few months so you'll be kinda halfway between the good weather and the snow coming in on the mountains. If you like winter sports, hold off for a few additional months and look at Queenstown or Taupo for easy mountain access (QT is like, Aspen expensive though). If you want summer weather but can't make it over before the end of Feb, hold off until next November-December at the earliest.

If you want to hit summertime but avoid the worst tourist time, mid to late Feb is often a good time to catch the last of the good summer weather while avoiding heavy traffic.

If you want to tour then the amount of time you have dictates what you can comfortably do. One week? Fly into Auckland, overnight and see the city, then fly to Christchurch and rent a vehicle. Drive the West Coast, Milford Sound, Arthur's Pass and that'll eat up your week nicely. Two weeks? One on each island. Anything longer, come camp at our place for a week or so and branch out from there :)

I miss that. Wonder what the next big thing's gonna be. MC doesn't seem to be dying down as far as holding the kids' attention, I had to set some friends up with a console the other day so their kids could all play minecraft together.

yeah FTB Infinity is great but you need a beast server to handle all the autism

also, Notch is working on another voxel-based thing but it probably won't amount to anything. 256 colours but it doesn't look terrible

Awesome. Thanks for the tips!

I’ll pass this info on to the misses. We’re more of the fair weather activity people. Hiking, kayaking, etc. I doubt we’ll be able to make it before the end of February. Maybe we should wait until later in the year to catch the better weather...

I did tell you here in Q3W I had cataract eye surgery (both eyes) back in early 2015.

Well lately I have had a fuzziness in one eye and today I attended my ophthalmologist for a yearly checkup. The specialist confirmed the condition and moments later after signing the indemnity paperwork she used a laser device to blow away (more like cutting as explained to me) the offending obstacle in one eye only..

All good and I again can see (more) clearly now.

Locally, I had the air conditioning technician attend yesterday to investigate the lack of airflow (we had a very warm day or two recently) and he checked and removed two motors that drive butterfly valves in the ducting and is providing a quotation to replace whenever.

While accessing the A/C compressor I noticed a small water weep coming from our hot water system housed in the same cupboard. Seems I am up for a replacement and soon :tear:
