I wasn't sure either. But it looked so interesting I had to take a picture.

Disaster here

Some 120 floor tiles exploded under our feet loudly and dangerously late afternoon. My Wife called me into our dining room and said she was hearing strange noises under feet and then all hell broke loose for a minute or so.. Not happy!

Apparently when the tiles were laid 15 years ago in the building of the apartment block, they didn’t wash a talc substance off the tiles before gluing down. One or two other apartments have had similar happen but nowhere near the extent of our disaster. Seems it was just time for ours to explode!

Trades attended the emergency to remove some tiles and grind between others so as to relive pressure and prevent further disaster.

A big job and happy days ahead :smirk: :smirk:

Moved into a newly-built apartment-complex last fall. Relatively small complex, 30 parties in 3 houses but in a good neighborhood. It's my property.
I took charge on the plants that would be planted into the pots on the balcony. I never cared much about plants in my life before. I planted 15 plants. 2 roses, 2 grasses, 2 small japanese maples and shrubs.

Like I said, I never cared much about plants before. Well, I never cared at all, really.
This summer was a learning-experience, I think. It took them hard.

Not happy here as more tiles 'let go' explosively Sunday morning. We heard a few cracks & bangs for the next hour or so.
We have decided to escape the disaster area and head towards the Gold Coast for a week or more until we can arrange appointments for repair/reinstall. Bye, bye Q3W.

Today's ride was roughly 300 mile round trip. Here I'm getting ready to ride into some rain.

Jeeze Gwamps can't get a break, trashed on for riding without safety gear and then gets trashed on for wearing high vis riding gear. You fuckin guys...

Riding in the rain sucks dude, hopefully wasn't too harsh, I guess florida rain is probably warm at least. I wouldn't want to get caught in the rain with the temps this morning, must be like 6 or 7C. Or cold as fuck for a floridian I'd guess.

We hit a couple small patches of rain. One was a pretty intense downpour. But that's Florida weather. If it's raining, wait 10 minutes and it'll be sunny. Though getting wet isn't much fun and stings a bit at 70 mph. However, if you do get wet the weather is warm enough to usually be dried out by the time you get where you're going.

I got caught in a rainy patch when I was out there last year; it was pretty much a deluge. I wouldn't like to be out walking in it, never mind riding in it.

I've got a pretty substantial wind screen. So if it gets too bad I can just duck down behind and at least avoid being directly pelted.

If only motorcycles had a couple of extra wheels for stability and a cabin of some sort surrounding the occupants to protect them from the elements...

... it would be way less funny.
I understand them riders although I wouldn't ride one myself. I had bad experiences in the past, not gonna get onto one again.

I understand you saying this in jest, but a lot of the aversion people have against motorcycles is them thinking a car is a good alternative that's both safer and more convenient. They couldn't be more wrong though, as the experience of driving a car is vastly different to the experience of riding a bike.

Riding a bike is, to me, more like being in a dance with a partner. If you're not in tune with your bike, the dance sucks and it becomes sloppy and forced and doesn't flow well. If you are in tune, it's like you graciously cut through the corners without effort and it feels great. A car is never a substitute for a bike.

I went for a ride with some friends. I don't ride with them often and now I remember why, they go about 150km/h+ down windy roads nonstop. Yeah, it's fine, I can handle it but I'd kinda like to keep my motorcycle license. I don't ride that fast unless I feel like it and that's usually for a short 30 second stint or I'm on the highway and bored. They were all bragging about how small their chicken strips were when I showed up until they saw my tire with no strips at all so all I can surmise is that they ride fast and won't be able to handle it if they get in a situation they need to lean to an extreme angle.
