Quote:
The videos of Doom that are online make the game look fast, but you really don’t realize just how fast it is until you get your hands on the controller. I played the PC version, running at a smooth 60 frames per second in 1080p, and learned quickly that Doom requires a different mindset for combat. While the ultimate goal is to blow away every demon as quickly as possible, you are pushed to concoct strategies on the fly, thinking not just of the next kill, but of your next series of moves, all while trying to keep the opposing forces in front of you, or in a position where their attacks can’t reach you. Verticality plays a large role in the game; enemies such as imps, who are far more skilled combatants than in previous games, use vertical spaces against you, scaling pipes to rain fireballs and charged fire blasts down on you.

Once I grasped the flow of combat (which felt fantastic in our demos), Doom proved to be a wickedly good time that empowers player skill and pushes players to develop their own style of play through its weapon variety. The thrills that come from Doom are as distinct as the gameplay mechanics, ranging from skill-driven chain reactions that can turn a handful of enemies into a smoldering bloody mess to satisfying finishers that give the player a few seconds to pause and admire their handiwork before the fray continues at a relentless pace.

Oh they got a special HUB page about Doom here:

http://www.gameinformer.com/p/doom.aspx

There's a few other articles/videos. Especially check out the "playing the new doom" video. The stuff these guys say about the game sounds really good.

I hope you can change the FOV, it looks far too zoomed in on those videos :(.

The chainsaw in the video here at 3:17 looks like it's going to be fun.

You don't have a good enough PC now? But you bought eight Oculus rifts? The $600 3D headset that is limited to one per person on initial release? The 3D headset that requires a minium of a 970 GTX, 8gb RAM and an Intel i5-4590?

It's almost like you make stuff up sometimes....

Don't mention to geoff that he lies. He'll get all mad, freak out, deny and then lash out just like he did in irc when i pointed out all the lies about his home.

40" 4k would be ballin' of course, but it's gonna have to be 100+hz, gsync and all that bullshit too to be good for gaming.

I wouldn't be buying it to hang over my fireplace so that I can discuss how it aesthetically compliments my Isamu Noguchi coffee table over a glass of scotch, I'd be using it as the best gaming monitor on the market.

DisplayPort 1.3 will allow 3440x1440 @ 144hz with adaptive sync, you can get one of those this summer along with Pascal or Polaris.

I'm currently using a 32" 1080p Samsung 60Hz Monitor/TV. However, this looks interesting. I'm also due for a new monitor, so I might pick it up.
