I was trying to remember what it was we were betting on. Anyone recall? I'd love to go back and take a look at those threads. Isn't that how Donny got a good chunk of his posts? I don't think I ever actually bet any of mine...

I didn't bet because back then, I still thought postcount=prestige. How naive. :)

I didn't bet because I knew my true postcount would one day be an accurate indication of the sadness of my life.

Bet my post count?! Have you lost your mind?!!

To be fair, remember that you had to have 1,000 posts to get a custom icon. And 10,000 posts for an animated icon. That was very important for some. And, depending on how often you posted, betting and losing your post count could set you back years...

Nah, animated was 10K. I remember that for the longest stretch of time, Duhard was the only one with an animated icon.

I can't imagine there are many forums out there as old as this one with a still-active userbase (with postcounts in the tens of thousands, no less). We're fucking fossils in internet time! I mean, '99 is pretty close to the beginning of the world wide web, amirite? :tard:

Well, Q3W's inception is chronologically closer to the beginning of the web than to today, at least. :p

Q3W is so old, the earliest threads weren't even being sucked up by the NSA :dts:

lol, reddit. They're such little bitches. Complaining about management. The mods grumbling because they weren't informed that someone would be fired. Guess what? It's not jut a website, it's a fucking business. Grow the fuck up. Not every little corporate decision around there requires a revolt...

Well to be fair, the person fired was the person who made the AMA process legit. Without her, it will be difficult to coordinate the AMAs and ensure that they are done properly.

That being said, the mods are definitely letting it get to their heads, considering they are volunteers.

edit: It is also worth mentioning that reddit mods complained about the removal of the r/shitniggerssay subreddit, FWIW.

It's a poor business decision to abruptly fire an employee who manages a core service without having a transition plan in place. Admin = clueless.

I lost like 5000 posts because of that failed world cup bid. I also lost posts somewhere else.... it was like a donation thread or something.

Shame we don't have the threads before 2005. I can't remember the exact event that caused a temporary migration of the forum to one of raw's servers?

He used to secretly spam in the spam forum and then delete the threads with his posts and up his post count.
