News on the Star Trek frontier

Quote:
CBS Television Studios announced today it will launch a totally new Star Trek television series in January 2017. The new series will blast off with a special preview broadcast on the CBS Television Network. The premiere episode and all subsequent first-run episodes will then be available exclusively in the United States on CBS All Access, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service.

The next chapter of the Star Trek franchise will also be distributed concurrently for television and multiple platforms around the world by CBS Studios International.

colour me a shade of unhopeful, tbh...

I blame Abrams and Lindelof for that, apparently there was quite a few fans of the series and previous writers for the show giving input. I reckon (hope) that they were forced into the direction they went in by those 2 bells.

I think the most important question atm though is.... what canon is it ?

Is this that thing then that Worf was pimping on Reddit a while back? That had a few prior series regulars on board, far as I recall. Star Trek: Worf was the touted title, which sounded rather silly.

I don't think so, Riker was also trying to pimp his idea at one point.

You mean to say that it's available to anyone with a Torrent client?

I mean to say they don't have enough confidence in it to show it on TV. The show will be crippled from the get-go because fewer people will be watching. Executives still rely on the Nielsen ratings. They're still thinking like dinosaurs in that regard.

So these bitches managed to get Nicholas Meyer writing. You know, the dude who done Wrath of Khan and pretty much got Star Trek out of the 80s :D

He also done Voyage Home and Undiscovered Country. They also have Bryan Fuller who was a writer for DS9 and Voyager.

A new hope :D then and from your source losCHUNK
Quote:
Meyer penned the screenplay and directed 1991's Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and penned 1986's Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

The Voyage Home, the whale one, was one if not the best of the set of those movies IMO.

Edit: A Star Wars - A new Hope?
