Here's a major spoiler, sorry about that
Re: Game of Thrones (season 6)
Hey thanks for the video clip Eraser
Funny enough, I have never seen footage of the series at all. As I don't have cable TV to access HBO I searched and I do see all series/episodes on the net on those sites. I checked IMDB and see the series started in 2010 but ratings were very low but it has since climbed in popularity.
The question is, is it worth watching from the start? I ask because I figure I might get the DVD(s).

Re: Game of Thrones (season 6)
Whiskey, it depends on where your interest lie. GoT is called a fantasy series, but the fantasy aspect of GoT is dialed way down. It's more about intrigue, conspiracies, politics, betrayal and such. 80% of the series is conversations between characters but there's always a point to it. The other 20% is fighting and large scale battles. It's probably not that different from a series like House of Cards, except that it plays in a medieval fantasy world where Dragons are a thing. Oh yeah, and there's quite a bit of explicit sex in there. Not pornography, but if you shy away from seeing naked boobies on your TV, then you might want to skip a few parts.
I didn't really enjoy the series the first two episodes though, but I stuck with it and by the end of season 1, I was a big fan. You might want to consider getting season 1 first and watching that before you pick up the other seasons.

Re: Game of Thrones (season 6)
I had the same problem as Eraser, I had to force myself through the 1st couple of episodes before I started enjoying it but I think you'll have that problem even if you started at season 2.
Soon as you work out the characters though you'll be well away.
And the entire show is like fantasy and mystery that relies a lot on character performances and good writing. You never really know what direction it's gonna swing in next.

Aye had that problem with BB. That show was sooooooo good. I miss it
Then you get things like Ash vs the Evil Dead, that you fall in love with straight away

Dragons & boobies on TV, nothing wrong with that. It is just that some of these shows I've started in the past dwell too much on the fantasy side. Your mention of intrigue, conspiracies, politics, betrayal and that 80% of the series are conversations between characters is reassuring as is the comment 20% is fighting and large scale battles.Eraser wrote:Whiskey, it depends on where your interest lie. Yeah, Better Call Saul is brilliant. Quite different from Breaking Bad though. Must admit I instantly fell in love with BB though.Memphis wrote:Fuck Cranston. He's good, but the characters in Saul are so much better. Kim is the absolute anti-Skyler. Mike is the fucking man. The Salamancas are a thing and it's merging with BB more and more. Get in.losCHUNK wrote:No Cranston dude. Watched the 1st few eps, gonna let it stack up a bit more
House of Cards on the other hand... gave up on it after half a season. Was convinced by people to keep watching and I continued watching and now I love it. Watching season 4.
Re: Game of Thrones (season 6)
First season of House of Cards was great, the rest is satirical garbage.
Re: Game of Thrones (season 6)
I'm going through Enterprise now
Even the 'shit' seasons are pretty good. We were spoiled back then.
You should watch Stargate too ;p

Memph, check out "The Captains", which is a documentary by William Shatner where he interviews all of the Star Trek Captains (Picard, Sisko, Janeway and the Enterprise and reboot movies ones). It's on Netflix if you have that.
Re: Game of Thrones (season 6)
I second this. It's gonna feel a little dated, but christ on a bike there's a lot of episodes, it just goes on and on and on. Used to love watching it stoned, good times. Atlantis was the best.losCHUNK wrote:You should watch Stargate too ;p
Kinda miss those 'feel good scifi' shows like Stargate and Star Trek, they don't seem to make em anymore

Nice to see the cast but I found a little disappointing.
