Can't stand that 48fps nonsense, it makes everything look like a cheap TV movie.

Saw Hobbit in Imax 3D just now, 50/10. Interstellar was great too.

Now there's no reason to go the movies until next December.

Just rewatched The Hobbit 2 on my parents 3d screen - 7/10

I really like the first half of the movie. Bear, Spiders, Elves - Great stuff. For the second half: Out of the four times I watched the movie, I fell asleep two times during the fight with the dragon. Such a borefest. The dialogue between Smaug and Bilbo is great, though.

I like the 48fps.

I really hate the frame doubling motion flow bullshit on new tvs..I always turn it off. To me this seemed different. It was like you stopped looking through the cinema lens and were actually there watching it. I wouldn't call it bad..just unique.

Hobbit: 5 Armies HFR imax 3d

8/10

I thought it was really good. The HFR didn't bother me at all and I thought it looked really cool. Awesome visuals.

I was completely shocked when
Thorin and the brothers were killed.
Absolutely didn't see that coming. I guess because the book is totally different.

The film was good, but it felt like one big fight scene...

Yeah I saw the first two with the HFR. Some people are ok with it, but I felt it was a jarring effect.

I then saw the BBC special An Adventure in Space and Time

Shows in some way how the cult of Dr Who was born.
In this, the first Doctor, William Hartnell is played by David Bradley and a great job too

Clicky for BBC America item

David Bradley - IMDB

William Hartnell - Wiki

Edit years later... BBC broken so here it is on YT

The Hobbit 3 - 7/10

Great visuals but horribly written. This movie jumps the shark again and again in both blatantly obvious and subtle ways.

Under the Skin - 9/10

The movie sucked me in from start to finish.

Hobbit movies are all boring to me. What's the point when the bigger, better story has already been told? I didn't care about anyone in the Hobbit films.

It takes a bit of getting used to, but after 10 mins or so, it doesn't feel odd anymore. It's awesome to see the quick panning motions of the camera being sharp. Sometimes it causes a bit of a visual overload because there's so much information for your eyes to take it, but I like it.

I watched all three of them like I was in a rollercoaster ride. The visuals are hugely impressive, especially in the HFR versions. The story wasn't of any importance to me.

I wasn't impressed by the visuals much, though the appearance by sauron in the 3rd hobbit movie was a stand-out. I found the original LOTR movies had much higher quality effects, though it could just be I've become more jaded by in the years since CGI.

It might be the higher resolution; It might be the lesser use of non-CG effects - I also found the visuals at certain points to be worse than in LOTR.

Peter Jackson's best movie is Bad Taste.
Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.

Fury 1/10
What a joke...filled to the brim with every predictable war movie cliché right to the last battle where Brad Pitt single handedly took out an entire regiment of uber elite SS. Whoever gave this a 10..fu for wasting my time.

Well, Braindead and The Frighteners are pretty cool too :)

Personally, I didn't like the Lord of the Rings movies, and have no desire to see him mutilate The Hobbit.

But then, I was never a massive fan of the books. Too padded with extraneous bullshit.
That and I was reading Conan books at the same time as a kid, and Conan didn't needlessly fuck about detailing the thousand year family lineage of incidental characters.

The Frighteners is excellent

meant to be set in an American suburb but if you're familiar with NZ, it so blatantly isn't
