'cause Luke's robe going from light to dark over the course of the original trilogy wasn't obvious enough? When watching Jedi immediately after watching Revenge of the Sith, the message is clear: Luke Skywalker is on the path to the Dark Side.
The Machete Order is a fine way of watching the movies, but anyone who needs it to catch this plotline is a moron.
Re: The last movie you saw
Watching it in that order from a friend's suggestion prior to Ep. 7Pext wrote:Then check this out: The machete orderWhiskey 7 wrote:I have them all and intend to relive the series before seeing the new one.

Re: The last movie you saw
I'm not so sure if it is actually the path to the dark side . If the writers are smart about it , they will pick up the conflict between the dark side and the light side not only by displaying lightsabre duels but also on a conceptual level : This prophecy about 'restoring the balance to the force' cited in Ep.1 can not be considered as a specimen of the the usual fantasy prophecies; While these tend to reveal the protagonist to be the destined child that will destroy evil in the end, in this case - the star wars unsiverse at the time of Ep.1 - the light side is obviously dominating and so 'restoring the balance' would actually mean a shift towards the dark side. Furthermore, in Eps. 1 to 3 the jedi order is exhibiting behaviour more associated with the dark side: While senator palpatine is using political tools like econimic sanctions and elections to advance his agenda, the jedi mostly resort to violence .MKJ wrote:'cause Luke's robe going from light to dark over the course of the original trilogy wasn't obvious enough? When watching Jedi immediately after watching Revenge of the Sith, the message is clear: Luke Skywalker is on the path to the Dark Side.

This guy has an interesting theory

Re: The last movie you saw
The problem with this theory is that it's no longer Lucas's story. It's now J.J.'s story. So even if Lucas had Luke turning to the dark side at the end of RotJ, that doesn't mean J.J. will follow through with that. I think he knows what the fans want and the majority would be upset about a dark Luke...
Re: The last movie you saw
tbh I can see JJ going that road even if Lucas didn't plan it, he did dismantle the entire Star Trek universe after all.
I don't think Lucas had Luke going to the dark side though. I can think of quite a few reasons why but part of his story was how he was going to battle it mentally, through all 3 films and how he will overcome it - which he eventually did and brought Anakin back from the dark side. So it's no surprise Luke was flirting with the dark side from time to time as temptation which culminates when faced with the choice of killing Vader. If Luke did turn they might aswell have had the rebels losing.
Eps 1,2 and 3 were made after n all and lifted some of the story arcs. Lucas didn't plan them during 4, 5 and 6 so any cross overs are just for shits n giggles imo.

Re: The last movie you saw
come to think of it, Luke is almost certainly still a virgin, so he could turn to the dark side Elliott Roger stylexer0s wrote:The problem with this theory is that it's no longer Lucas's story. Ender's Game
Revenge
Yes, watch if if you get the chance. 8/10
IMDB
Not bad; better than I had imagined and interesting IMO.Young Ender Wiggin is recruited by the International Military to lead the fight against the Formics, a genocidal alien race which nearly annihilated the human race in a previous invasion.

Re: The last movie you saw
The best thing about the book was the twist, which unfortunately didn't happen in the movie.
The story is pretty much identical, but with the addition of different character viewpoints, the twist is removed.
I wouldn't say that it's much of a twist, but basically we find out that Ender is fighting real enemies in his game "simulation".
Pext wrote:what's the twist in the book ?Mat Linnett wrote:The best thing about the book was the twist, which unfortunately didn't happen in the movie.

Also, I had the idea that the Formics were massing on their home planet in defence after Earth took their outpost the remote Earth base was setup on; where Ender did the final stages in his training as Commander. Ender had the same thought
Just maybe, those little and later battle simulations were also battles with the Formics building up to their planets' decimation.
Not enough 10's in this thread for me.
Thick, solid, tanned and tight in all the right places... smashing 10's on the regular.

Still a pleasant movie, worth you time and the rating went up to 8.5/10

Watched again Christmas Eve. This is becoming a tradition here. Look, if you haven't seen it, do! It is a feel good movie

We followed up with Star Wars V - The Empire Strikes Back and we're slowly getting through them and enjoying even with the dated special effects.

Star Wars 7 - 9/10
The first half is brilliant. This is as good as blockbuster movies get . So much excitement and likeable characters . The second half / finale is definitely weaker but still has some good moments .
I love the villain . Most of the other characters are also interesting but the character of Rey looses a great deal of originality in the second half .
