Deadpool 7/10

Better than I was expecting. I would imagine the next one will be even better, considering they had a tight budget for the first. But I also read that the director has left the Deadpool 2 project due to "creative differences" with Ryan Reynolds. Not sure how that'll work out...

dp has come a long way since then.

It needs the comedy, merc with a mouth attitude. Quentin would suck, I'm more worried about FOX taking a bigger interest and meddling though.

I trust RR to be fair, he seemed to be the driving force behind the movie. Still a shame though.

Inferno

Yes, the Tom Hanks one and OK as it goes for a typical 'end of the world by virus/plague/pandemic' movie.
Watchable and what you'd expect I guess so don't hurry to watch.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016)

Yes, the Tom Cruise one and not too bad at all. I enjoyed. Descent story line etc.

Braindead aka Dead Alive - 10/10

I fucking love this movie. My siblings and I used to watch it all the time in the 90s. Even though I liked it back then, I didn't realize just how well done it is. Just an absolute pleasure to watch.

Children of Men - That's a great movie. Michael Caine was excellent in the role

IMDB

Oh, and I played some HL2 the other day :paranoid:

Bone Tomahawk.

A peaceful village in the 18'somethings US is harrased by savage natives (for some reason that is explained).
One night, some towns-people are taken captive and taken to the tribe's den.
The sheriff, deputy and two other towns-people set out for the rescue.

Not politically correct.
Starts out almost satirical, turns into real horror.
Very graphic with the horror-elements, although there are just a few.

This one is pretty hard to judge as it meddles in different genres, really. It is a Western with comedic aspects at first, and then it turns darker. Much darker. It's a bit slow at times. But when the horror kicks in it does so relentlessly.

I'd give it a 6/10 but you should check it out if you like Westerns or Horror movies. It's an interesting approach.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Meh/10

Potter frothers are going to love this film, I found it a little empty and lacking in narrative. Technically they tried to do too much with cgi visual effects in not enough time and it suffered because of it. It can't hold a candle to Junglebook, for example. Redmayne is good tho, he carries it.

Arrival (2016)

I enjoyed what I'd term a powerful movie as I am still trying to fathom some interesting twists out.

IMDB and a another review from the Wall Street Journal is here.

See it. 9/10

Dekalog: One - 9/10

The movie held my interest even though story was predictable, then again it wasn't full length. I love Kieślowski's sense of the visual coupled with the music. Incredible child acting, felt real. The guy who played the dad was great too but sometimes I got the feeling I also get from Brad Pitt, like he sort of smiles very subtly like he knows he's on camera. It was subtle though, above average acting for sure. They probably didn't do many re-takes as it seems very low budget. It was mostly when he was alone, he and the kid had great chemistry.

I will definitely watch the rest of the series, loved it.

100% this.
The topic is some incredibly important stuff as those two movies underline. Yet most people, even younger ones don't seem to realize or don't even want to think about. In other words: There is no revolt against it.
Private companies act the same way as good as they can but that's a different story.

Imo Oliver Stone didn't get the message over the way he should and maybe wanted to.
"Snowden" tells us the background for his decision but it kinda fails at telling us why the action he took is so important for us, all of us, globally.

World War Z (2013)

Yes, that Brad Pitt zombie flick from a couple of years ago that I seemed to have missed seeing until now.
Look, not bad and entertaining enough so watch it once to say you've seen it I guess.

Imitation Game 6/10

It was decent enough I guess. Although, I really felt like they tried to shove the homo stuff down our throats at the end. Basically "If you hadn't sucked cock, millions more would have died!"

I don't give a damn if he was gay. He was human first...

Ben Hur the remake 7/10

Wow, what an evengelical film! Didn't remember jesus was in the original so obviously, but wiki told me that was basically the same. Bit of a boring movie overall, but there's a couple of redeeming scenes; the whole bit where he's a galley slave is pretty awesomely done and also the bit where the legions enter town singing, powerful stuff. It's pretty much those two scenes that elevate this blatant jesusfilm from what would otherwise be a verrrry preachy excercise. Oh, maybe its worth mentioning i turned it off twenty minutes before it was over, i felt it should end after the race and had zero interest in jesus.

Yes. The book is so much better, why they opted for a movie and not a series is incomprehensible - would have fitted the format like a glove.

Suicide Squad 4/10

My god what a mess, folks weren't kidding. Entire scenes did not make sense, like, at all. Shame, because it did have a bit of potential i though.
