Hi, guys. Knowing about foralarx2k3's remake of this map, I wanted to do it myself for of the same reason as before (with ztn2dm2) - one cool guy, "the Shib" made a direct conversion of both maps for Q3A and I didn't like both. :)
I'm still not sure with the dimensions, that's why it's beta atm. I'll post the final version here when it's ready. I'd be glad to know your opinion. :)

Loved the original myself, played a big part in my mispent childhood!

Very good work, after a quick play through it feels like I remember it. Visually does well to pay homage to the original, modernise it a bit and keep with ztn's visual design goals for the map. Nothing against foralarx but his did not play at all like the original.

If you want a bit of inspiration, here's a block out I made ages ago ( https://www.dropbox.com/s/q4ran1sftwlku ... 1.bsp?dl=0 ).
I spent a good length of time trying to perfect the dimensions, LOS etc. just for it to sit in my big collection of blocked-out remakes, doomed to never be finished!
Bear in mind it'll have missing textures, incompatible ladder function and incompatible items as was made with a mod in mind.

You'll probably find it feels very similar to yours.

Just to be picky I'd suggest getting some blue strip lights like in the original.

tyvm, it's exactly what I wanted! my dimensions are too tight (frankly, it's mostly just a repeating of q2's), and your version helps to understand, what I should do. the only thing I'd add - moar height ofc ;) and the tunnel below the RA feels a bit tight too.

yeah, sure, the current light is temprorary.

2all: updated q2-textures (mostly 256x256) if someone needs. not all of them are nice, but.. :)

updated the link, @themuffinman I'm trying to expand the initial authors version, not making everything wider. dunno will it work (in terms of gameplay) but surely will make it easier in terms of design ))

Looking good!

The ceiling above old adren/ladder should be lower. You should scrutinize ceiling height based on whether or not rocket splash can damage you while standing under it - if it can in the original it should in a remake. The line of sight is also out a bit - the doorway should be lower to block the view there... see below...

oh, ty, this map doesn't run on regular Q3A - that's why I couldn't notice about this water shader )
this forum is too slow, I updated the link again, tried to remove the "claustrophobic" areas completely ))

dunno, mb I'm wrong but this old adren corridor still feels like a trap for me. but it's ez to make it more dangerous =)

Screenies look great Obsessed.

Wish I'd had Muffins insights at the time of building mine instead of after it was complete and ready for release. He is right about the line of sight issues, etc on mine.
