740 Viewcams done for Osp pk3

Post by v1l3 »

Hey guys...

I've been shooting custom map viewcams in Osp over the years. I have talked with Tig at ..::LvL about whether he would host the .pk3 I'm making for it or not, and he has agreed to the idea, which I am highly appreciative for.

My question to you guys...

Are there any maps out there right now that are being worked on at this present time, that will be sent in the near future to ..::LvL for hosting. If there is, do you want your map to be included with this viewcam pack before I finish it up here?

Nearly every map that has been made available for download for Q3 over the years, that is a map worth downloading, has been done. Especially, maps that are available for download from ..::LvL. I have done alot of the viewcams for maps that are not available from ..::LvL also. Alot of the maps cannot be downloaded easily anymore, which will make alot of the old school players(like me) that hang onto their custom maps very happy.

Also..

I'm also at a small wonder of whether I've caught all of them....especially ones that came out back in 2000-2001...to- maps that are kick-ass maps that never got sent to ..::LvL, BurialGrounds, Tiki's site(can't remember what it was called), planetquake3, fileplanet, etc.

Only good ones.

I believe that it would be hard for anyone to find a map I haven't already covered though, as I am probably that biggest map playing fiend in Q3 sO!!!

I'm getting close to finishing, so I figured I'd ask before I do it.

-thx

Sorry for the obvious question, but what're viewcams for those of us unfamiliar with OSP?

Sounds like a great deal of work has gone into this :)

When you play through a map in osp, at the end of the match, their are pictures of the map you just played through.

What viewcams are actually, are camera's set up through a level, that when you are in spectator , you click once to look through the player that is running around in first person, like thorugh his eyes like normal. If you click again, you can view through the viewcams, and watch the player run through the level, like you are watching a movie.

It's the coolest thing that was ever made available within a mod. I've been setting up these camera's in maps over time, and originally I started doing them as a sort of screensaver, where you can watch the bots run around in a level in thirdperson from the camera's. I've become so well at doing them, that I have pretty much perfected them with offering complete coverage, where you never lose view of the player.

I'm am hoping that arQon gain the desire to add this feature from osp to Cpma...where, it could offer alot of cool things if worked into making demo's.

I have all the cpm maps covered also......along with pretty much every map that has ever been made for q3 that is worth downloading.

People are gonna love it. =>

-I hope that explains well enough.

Sounds pretty cool... I've had a similar idea in the past but didn't know it was already in there. I'd talk to arQon ASAP to see if he's willing to put that functionality into CPMA. No point in making a million viewcams for levels if they won't even be used.

'sup man=>

I made a topic about the idea at the forums there some time back. So arQ's definitely seen it.

If you go into the viewcam folder in the cpma folder...and you grab the cpm3.cfg out, and add viewcam- to the front of it, and pop it in your osp folder cfg-viewcam folder, it can be used as a viewcam in Osp. I'd say their half way there already.....just haven't done it yet Someone should comment on the post if they agreed =)

I guess the amount of downloads that this .pk3 gets will be the real teller on how many people like the idea already.

-oh and your gonna like my viewcam-wvwq3dm4 btw=)
