You can bypass the limit on MD3 models by seperating the mesh into groups. Each group can have up to 1000 verts. For instance, on that model upper.md3 consists of:

u_upper
u_body
u_leftarm
u_lefthand .. and so on.

yep. it's going to be a balancing act between working on this project and whatever i make for the contest. but i have some ideas about what i want to make which might be doable. they say the easiest time to find a job is when you already have a job. maybe the easiest time to make a new map is when you already have one in progress? :)

I must say Pat, I like what I see. For some reason, even as early as it is, it just breaths Quake 3 to me (in a good way).

Hipshot can't enter due to being a sponsor :(

You not see it yet, but once completed I plan to make as always some video on which the proper gameplay would be shown with all the shortcuts and map features that you can use to travel faster or block the passage for the enemies.

Believe me, gameplay could be nice, but with larger amount of players playing for each side, I hope the server/client side memory capability will be enough to play it smoothly without getting disconnected or server crash :)

Oh man I love the geometry going on there sst13! I also like the brushed concrete texture theme. Looks a bit charcoal-like, which fits the red accents very nicely.

@sst13: yeah, those teleporters look like pure anus. rest of the map looks amazing. come to think of it, i've never seen such a curvy map pulled off so well. i do wish the upper level had more vertical action though. why not open up that hole in the center for a drop down?

I think there are id's assets used. Do you plan to release it? Then I would suggest you to make your own assets to avoid copyright issues...

At the moment it should be considered as a prototype, and thus, you require my written authorization to upload it around. I do not plan on making any money with this. Actually, to make things clear, You'll have to contact me to get an executable.

If this was to become a real finished game in a distant future, be sure to have a nice art direction, some quality sound design, and of course no remains of any id-copyrighted assets in it :)

Actually, the only visible remaining assets right here are these bullet cases flying, the rarely visible decals and some sounds that I couldn't create myself within the time that I had. Please do not consider this thing bigger than it is !
