When i try to make a .iso image file from a certain cd the iso comes up 19 mb short of what it should be. Now when i burn this image the cd doesn't work. Directly copying doesn't work either. Is there a setting i'm missing? I'm using UltraISO.

Are you trying this with copy protected media? I dunno how extensive UltraISO is in its capabilities of copying such data but maybe it would be better to try a program that is tailored for such a project.

AP The Longue CA is like axbaby's server a year or so back... when it was full on most nights. Common to see 12+ people there daily. :D

Imaging with cdburnerxp still loses 19 mb somewhere. Alcohol detects the full load but gives a lot of Disc read errors. Are those a problem?

Nearly no scratches. The original cd itself works fine, the copy is the one that buggers out on me.

Edit: had to go away for a while when i came back it got this far.

FYI depending on the setting Alcohol still spits out readable and functional isos after the copy is done... (with those types of errors displayed) err, at least when I make it an iso saved directly to drive. I did this with a couple of games like battlefield so I could have an image on the drive and not bother with cd insertion. Works perfectly, although I haven't burned the image so I dunno if it would actually install off of it.

Well to be honest, if you look at the top right it was going for 2 hours and didn't do anything significant besides error so i think they actually came up with a protection that worked at least at a basic to moderate level.

Try messing with the options that come up in the iso making wizard... I think it's the 'fast skip errors' option that finishes the disk a lot faster (under 30 mins), mind you the errros still show up but it got finished. If not you might need to check the other options or change to the appropriate datatype (such as safedisc2/3), so find out what your media uses if ya can.

Well, fast skip doesn't work here. I've just given up. I'll go see if i can find it somewhere lying around :ninja:

those read error messages are normal, safedisc copyprotection scatters bad sectors all over the disc... which is why you're comming up 19meg short when you use something that isn't equiped to handle it.
if you check it will tell you what copy protection scheme the disc uses, then you can just set alcohol to that scheme when you make the image.
it will spit out those messages telling you it found bad sectors, which will be noted in the image file... that way when it burns the image it can put the bad sectors back in where they belong, thus; creating a perfect backup.
just burn the image... i bet it works perfect.
