Not much information here, but I'll try.

A buddy is having trouble with email saying he cant read email from another guy. It is all 0000's and things. He thinks it says something about mime types or something like that.

WIth this little info, can anyone suggest something

Is the email he's being sent typed in English?

Yes, the only thing I can think of is that one of them is using MS WORKS.
