I have two old PCs I want to give away. Can anyone point me to a decent HD scrambler program, which really cleans the old hard disks? Preferably something which runs from a floppy.
Don't want the little haXX0r boys to restore my pr0n-collection...

That's what Eraser will do.

If the old data is sensitive (eg. business information) I wouldn't recommend selling it with those drives at all (in fact for drives like that either a disposal company or a hammer is the best solution ;) ). For normal information though, a program like Eraser is more than adequate.

Look for a program called Boot and Nuke, it'll boot from floppy or CD, and can re-write a disc with random 1's and 0's any number of times.

If you download Eraser, you can make a Boot & Nuke Floppie from it.

thx guys
Boot and Nuke seems to fit my needs best. :icon14:
Eraser can't handle empty space on partitions larger than 2 gigs. :icon13:

Sorry. I meant Eraser has Boot & Nuke that you can put on a floppy.
Didn't know Boot & Nuke was available seperatly.

But Eraser is a good program especially if you want to erase a file from your hard drive.

when I do LLF (low level format) or actually zero-fills I use the software from the manufacture of the drive and it always seems to do nicely. Never used Boot and Nuke.
