Hi All,

is it possible to have analog walking controls in quake 3?

In Quake 1 and 2 you could map walking/strafing to a joystick. Pushing softlly worked as walking, pushing hard is running. Perfect.

In Quake 3, the joystick seems to be read as digital wasd or cursor keys. It's always the full joystick value.

Has this been a design decision (no walking necesarry in multiplayer) or is there a way to make analog joystick controles work?

not that i know of, though it could well depend on the specific model joystick.
the better question is, why in hell would you try to play q3 (or any FPS) with a joystick?

analog walking is very precise, its a lot more precise than just holding one of the wasd keys. im playing quake2 on my television with the wiiremote as mouse and the nunchuck as analog joystick for walking and strafing. its simply perfect, but quake3 doesnt seem to support analog walking and strafing.
